Did anyone use labels to address your invites?

Did anyone use labels to address your invites?

I would think that it's not commonly done. I am up in the air over it. FH thinks I should (he also thinks he can pass our the invites to his friends...um NO)
but I think that if it's not normally done, that maybe I should just either write them out or have someone like Inkspot do them for me.

What's the concensus on this?

I received an invite with a label and I did not like it. It's one thing to put the envelopes thru the computer to print but I found labels a little improper for the occassion. Just my opinion.

I've received invites w/clear labels & really didn't think 2x. Life's too short. And if I wasn't able to run my envelopes thru my printer, I would've done clear labels also. I would not use white labels tho, makes it look like a mass mailing & takes away from the beauty of your invitations.

FSIL just sent out her invitations addressed with clear labels and a beautiful font. I knew it was a lable because I helped her with them, but you couldn't even tell. I'll be usuing clear labels on mine as well. Let's face it, most invitations get trashed so most certainly the envelope will too!

I used clear labels and my invitations looked very nice.

I know some people tend to get caught up in the beauty of the invite and all...but honestly MOST people DO NOT EVEN NOTICE...and wind up throwing them out in the garbage, never to be seen again!!! It seems silly to me to pay someone to calligraphy them or whatever it is they'll do.

My cousion used clear for his wedding invites. I didn't even notice unless I really looked at it. I think its fine to use clear labels. Like the girls said who saves the envelope

My best friend used clear labels for her invites and it looked fine - you couldn't even tell unless you looked really really close. It saved her a few hundred dollars. If anything, you keep the invitation - not the envelope. I would do what your pocketbook can afford.

Congrats!!! I used clear labels, they looked great but you have to be careful because they cling to the envelope and some of them I had to redo...Also they take awhile to dry....I think they came out good for me though...Good Luck

I just receied an invite with clear labels and it did not look nice. It was black around the cear label edges from gong through the mail. Why bother with nice invites if you are going to stick labels on it? Running through your printer may take time but I believe it comes off looking nicer.

I actually could do them through the printer but I'm sooooo worried that they would get jammed or something. Plus some of FH's friends have irish names with accents on them and I don't know how to do those - I'd have to do it by hand afterwards if I used a printer. Same with labels, I realized afterwards. If I can get big labels and do the fonts big I might do that but again with the accent symbols...

Is there a way to get the accent symbols on letters on the computer?

And.....how much did the labels cost? Because Inkspot charges $.39 for outer and $.20 for inner - that's less than $100 for 150 outer and 150 inner - maybe I should just do that and not worry about writing them out?

I don't like them, I find them to be a little tacky considering the occasion, but JMHO. Handwritten is best, or I had them printed in a lovely font by a printer.

And, if your FH wants to hand the addressed envelopes to his friends/family-that's actually very proper.

Some people (who have a lot of money) have all of their invites couriered to those they must, and hand out the others. It's considered the most formal way to give them!

One more thing-do a search on InkSpun (the guy you're considering using). There have been SEVERAL complaints about his service-including from me (I had to have them redone).

Julybride- I actually didn't realize that. But courier would be way to expensive for us and we can't hand them out ourselves without flying over there. :)
Which we'd both love to do but not a reality at the moment
As for hand delivering, I'm afraid his friend would wait until the weekend when most of the guys are at their local pub and hand them out there and I can just see some forgetting them and then not knowing where they forgot them and not rsvping and then having to send them another one...not worth the stress.

But it's interesting to know that hand delivered is the most formal. When you think about it, it does seem very 'chi chi'!
