Did anyone watch The Contender?

I thought it was so good!

DH and I both loved it -- it is very well done IMO. To me, it had that perfect combination of human interest stories, drama, interesting challenges.. and the way it leads up to the fight at the end was really exciting. (yep I'm a sucker for this stuff)

Already you can see tell which guys you are gonna love , and the ones you will love to hate ..

But DH already said he's not sure I can handle it every week.. I was actually crying at the end!! I think I'm already too emotionally involved with the fighters!

No I didn't, but I will be watching next's episode. I'm also too emotional more now than ever since I have a kid.

I watched bits and pieces...It was too sad for me.

AND in a way i was really shocked by this show..I find it more heartbreaking to watch than any other show out there...Watching these guys, the heart and soul they put into it...THe drive and motivation to better themselves and their families...INCREDIBLE

But that is the reason why i can't watch the end fights....I can't pick a favorite and hate watching any of them lose

Can someone FM me who won...I had to turn it off

We loved it as well.

My only complaint would be the sound effects during the final fight...

I missed it!! Does anybody know if there is going to be an encore performance?

I totally agree Jenn - part of me was shocked, but part of me respected fighters in a way I never did before this show. I agree it is probably the most realistic 'reality' show I've watched, because it is way more than just winning the money in this case - the way they incorporate the fighters personal lives into the show, well its all VERY real and emotional.

Without giving anything away, I think last nights show was especially difficult to watch because both of these fighters appeared to be such warm, loving, decent guys - perhaps in future episodes it will be easier to 'root' for a favorite, since not all of them are as likeable as last night's participants

Yeah I heard that too.
Sad, but it could make sense,,,,these guys are totally relying on this show to make their career.

Yes one of the fighters did kill himself... but from all of the news articles written about this tragedy, it was stated clearly that the show had nothing to do with his suicide.. actually I believe the producers of the show said he did really well and made it pretty far...

allegedly his suicide was due to the fact he was having many personal problems with the mother of his child..
