So...I moved to Queens almost ten years ago. I registered to vote here, I did jury duty here, I changed the addy on my license, etc.
BUT being the hater of paper work that I am, I never changed my car registration. I did try to once, but the person at the DMV discouraged me, saying that I'd have to pay more taxes or something, since Queens is part of NYC.
Anyway. Some jury stuff came to my parents' house, which my mother gave to me WEEKS after it came. Then I never bothered to follow up (again, my hatred of all things paper). ANYWAY, my mom calles yesterday saying that I got a subpoena to appear in court. Being the moron that I am, I am sort of not dealing with it. But I know I have to. Ugh. Please don't be stupid like me.

You only will receive a fine. I think its between $200-$500. That is in Nassau County at least...don't know what the city rules are.

My coworker had the same thing happen and she just had to appear at court and they released her. She didn't mention anything about a fine.

I think I wasn't clear in my initial post- I got called for Nassau but have been living in Queens and did jury duty in Queens not too long ago. And I can't believe that Nassau is going to call me NOW. I'm so annoyed but it's my own fault.
