Milleridge Cottage Fox Hollow Swan Club Chateau Briand Coral House Russos on the Bay Jericho Terrace North Ritz Club Carlyle on the Green Chateau La Mer Brentwood Country Club Villa Lombardi's Floral Terrace Sand Castle
We have narrowed it down to 6 we both like (or can live with) outside ceremony & cocktail option
Fox Hollow - need to go back and make sure BM is gone that I hated & to get a new quote for Sept/Oct 2005 (we got $51 pp++ for 2/19/2006)
North Ritz - nice space and 1 event at a time, 175 minimum at $65pp for Thurs night
Villa Lombardi - put on a great wedding but a few restrictions that annoy me, $74.95 with 75 minimum for Thurs night
All indoors
Russos on the Bay (FI didn't like but came around) - $77 pp for 10/10/05 afternoon I think
Jericho Terrace (Mike Closs is so cool that we would go with them if they had an outdoor space), $55pp++ with 115 minimum for Skylight room & 150 minimum for Dome Room 10/10/05 (Monday afternoon)
Floral Terrace (fabulous bridal suite) - 125 minimum and like $60 pp for November though

Re: Did I mention we have been to 14 halls!!!!!!!!!!
The bridal suite at Floral Terrace is the best I've seen. It's HUGE. One big attraction that it had for me was that there is one wedding at a time there. It must be great to be the only one in white in the whole place - the only bride. We just couldn't guarantee 150 people (which is a must with them).

Re: Did I mention we have been to 14 halls!!!!!!!!!!
We visited Floral Terrace.
They have a nice ceremony room and a fabulous ballroom!!! It is very different and the dance floor is elevated. And FI's big issue was solved - Floral Terrace is a one wedding at a time place.
I was concerned that it's on a main road and right at the highway. There was no wedding today so no valets were outside. However, they have valet parking (underground) and the price was $60pp ++ on 2/19/2006 in the afternoon with a 125 minimum guarantee. Maybe warmer months is higher?
Marilyn was really nice. They do not have tastings though - same people as Sandcastle.
The bridal suite is HUGE and very nice. There is even a groom's suite which FI liked. They have a 75% cancellation fee (forfeit 75% of money)

Miller Place Inn has only one wedding at a time and the whole upper floor is the bridal area. It is east of all the places you looked at though.
ETS: the outside area is gorgeous!

We were quoted $90 for an afternoon in April '05, with a much higher guarantee.

You guys should go back and meet with MY BM (fm me for name).. he is AWESOME! That is totally why we booked Fox Hollow, he was the nicest person we met with, we too went to about 15 halls! We fell in love with FH as soon as we saw it, and then BM was awesome, we booked the same day!

The banquet manager at the fox hollow you are prob talking about is Mel..he threw me off for a while..very insistent and guaranteed i would be 'writing him a check' that second...I did end up booking fox hollow cause I loved it, but i didn't like his approach...and he won't budge on the minimum for me :( I just want to lower it by 10 people...very annoying!

Yes I beleive you are right, that was his name!
Huge Turnoff to me--or anyone for that matter who comes off obnoxious, rude and persistent--other than him and a photographer I had met with, I guess I can't complain meeting two people like that out of many!

No, we have not been to Woodbury. The other places I want to check are Watermill, Westbury Manor, Bourne & Vanderbilt.

Yep, same guy. Very pushy & would not lower the minimum for Sunday afternoon.

FI likes Villa Lombardi's the best. He made a comment tonight while I was at the hair salon that the hall had a lot of nice places to take pictures. When I asked him which hall - he said Villas.

Re: Did I mention we have been to 14 halls!!!!!!!!!!
It all depends on your style. I've been to 3 weddings @ Villa Lombardi. The food is AMAZING ane the service is great. But the decor just isn't my style
I was just @ a wedding @ the Jericho Terrace that was beautiful - Again, the decor was not really my taste in the 'lobby' area. - But the room itself was gorgeous ! And if your wedding is during the day, I'm sure the room w/ the dome is amazing......(I was @ an evening wedding so the dome kind of lost its effect) Again, the food was absolutely delicious (very fresh and HOT)

We both liked Jericho Terrace and Mike Closs is great to work with. However, no outside ceremony or cocktail hour option. We got a good price too Monday afternoon 10/10/05 for $55pp++

Re: Did I mention we have been to 14 halls!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I am getting fed up with this process. FI was sick of it after 5 halls but he will go to more halls if I want to keep looking.
I love Vanderbilt Mansion but it has a 125 max. Our list is 193 (mostly family) so we probably can't cut it much under 175.
I also want to check out Watermill, Westbury Manor, Woodbury Country Club & Crest Hollow. Majestic Gardens is a 1 event place so I kind of want to go there too but it's far out.
We both like Villa Lombardi's although I am not feeling the 'garden theme' decor in the cocktail area. I was hoping to find a place we both LOVE but that has not happened yet. We both like Villa Lombardi's though - easy to find, great service, lots of good food (I hear) and a nice outdoor ceremony area with cocktail space. They have a bunch of rules though!?!?!

Re: Did I mention we have been to 14 halls!!!!!!!!!!
Would ya even consider Giorgios? I really think it's your style.
- outdoor ceremony, on a golf course, with views of the LI Sound
- Very flexible w/ $$$ if you speak to George Jr.
- The foods as good as Villas
- The decor is not as gaudy as Villas very pretty not overdone- ELEGANT huge windows with the most gorgeous views
- lots of other brides have gotten extras thrown in like a deluxe viennese hour
- they give you a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant so you can try the food BEFORE you book
- you'll have two bridal suites one for you and one for Reggie (his has a big tv)
Just go look, please take my advice- it's def worth the ride out!
Re: Did I mention we have been to 14 halls!!!!!!!!!!
Giorgio's is very pretty. I looked at the fotoverdi.com pics. However, it's at exit 71 off the LIE. That has to be 2 hours from Brooklyn and if there is traffic?!?!?!
Villa Lombardi's is about an hour and 15 minutes from us (with me driving at high speeds) and I think that was exit 60? or close.
