mine took 11 months to come in, but it's a different designer.

Yep thats what they do!!!

I ordered my BM dresses (Alfred Angelo) in September and they didnt come til last week. When I biatched her out, the lady at the shop told me she had 06 brides ordering their dresses and they wont come in til right before their weddings too.

I think the best thing to do is tell the shops your wedding is at least 6 months before it really is - I mean what is the point of going early????

I ordered my Eve of Milady gown February of 2004 and I called Paradise Bridals and they said it's not in and not due to be shipped until JULY!!!!!!!!!???


Does this sound normal to any of you?????

i heard that they make the dresses according to wedding date priority. They usually want your dress to arrive about 2-3 months before the wedding date. So they might not even order it until necessary. I also heard it is so the dress doesn't get damaged in storage. Again, this is just what i heard.

My dress company (DIamond Bridal) went out of business about well before my wedding. Thank God my salon, Charmet in Bayside, ordered my dress right away! They are taking a real chance when they do that and it's not fair!!

I wouldn't worry - Some gowns do take a long time to come in. -You don't NEED it until September anyway....July seems fine to me !! That way it will come in and you won't have to wait FOREVER to start going for your fittings !!

You're right, Marisa....but WHY do they LIE and say it's not in when it probably is???? That just pisses me off!
I was told 2 weeks after ordering my dress that it was DISCONTINUED.So when I called and made a stink about it then, they said DONT WORRY....once the order has been placed it is GUARANTEED. Ok, assuming that's the case, the gown was ordered in February......WHAT THE HECK is taking SO LONG! Sheesh....you'd think Rumplestiltskin was back there spinning straw into gold for my gown!

- Ok you need to CALM DOWN b/c you are stressing me out !! I'm the one w/ like 8 weeks to go !! If it makes you feel any better, My 1st fitting and 1st hair trial are not until Next Friday !! - You are WAY WAY WAY ahead of the game ! Give them a call re: your gown - Can you possibly call the designer direct ? I was able to do that and ask them some questions. - Bridal Salons ALWASY lie !!
You'll have your gown in time and it will be perfect !!

I ordered my dress in August and was told it would take about 6-8 monts. I called a few weeks ago to see what was the deal w/ my dress and was told it is not expected in till August. At first I was pissed a year for a dress to come in but then I thought about it and said why would I want it sitting in the salon for 7 months...I think they do the priority dresses first and then wait to the girls that ordered their dresses a year or more in advance.

my guess is that they did not order it when you did. i ordered my dress is august and the salon did not place the order until february. i would call them and ask when the order was placed.
