Did they tell you not to put area rugs down after floors were refinished?
They told me to wait two weeks. Did you hear this as well?

My cousins just had their floors done and were told to wait a while after too. I don't remember how long, but it was a while!

I think my guy said 6-8 weeks b/c the floor needs to cure. He also told me to leave the heat on in the house at 75 degrees for two weeks. (he isnt paying my oil bill and we werent living in the house so I didnt heat to house for the floors I am crazy but not that nuts)
The varnish or whatever it is that they put on takes time to fully dry. The way it was explained to me was that the first coat soaks in really fast and then the second and third take longer since the wood isnt as pourious (SP?). If you put area rugs down especially the ones with the rubber backing they may stick to the floor and dull up the finish.

They told us (DH's Cousin owns the company- so he has no reason to lie to us) that you need to leave the rugs off for a couple of weeks and if possible the furniture for that long too if you can. The longer you can the longer it will have to set and cure and the more years you will get out of the floor.

Thanks girls. I actually went to Home Expo to buy a rug today. I gave them my credit card and just when I was supposed to sign, I remembered that I wasn't supposed to have the rug down yet. So I cancelled it and put the rug (over 8 ft by 11 ft) back. Oh well.

You could have still purchased the rug, just don't put it down yet. Leave it rolled up in the basement or another room until you're able to put it down.
