Did this happen to anyone else?
Today in the mail I got a brochure from Cactus Day Spa, it was geared towards brides. I think LI Weddings may have sold my name, I don't live on LI and I have never inquired abou them.I think they are a featured vendor here. I just thought it was wierd, and wondered if anyone got one too. Thanks! Continued success to all...

Have you ever gone to a bridal expo?
And left your *real* info? I went to one on LI and unfortunately, I gave my correct address (+ bogus phone number) for one of those silly drawings for a crock pot or something...hehe! Anyway, I'm STILL getting postcards from several limousine companies (we didn't even have limos) as well as 2 DJ's and I'm married 3 1/2 months (yay!). If not, then blame LIWeddings. LOL. :)

Oh yeah they sell the info b/c I have never given them my home address so I guess thats why I don't get any mail. However i get tons of emails from vendors geared to long island brides so I am sure they sold my email address.

I've only been coming to this site for about 2 1/2 weeks, since I got engaged 3 weeks ago. And, I've been getting emails from vendors, and today, I just got a postcard from a vendor that I never contacted. Hope this doesn't continue.

they auto-check the box about mailing list in your profile
whenever you go into your profile to make any changes or updates, there's a box on the bottom of the screen that defaults to 'place me on your mailing list'. You'll have to make sure that box is always unchecked before you exit your profile.

Isn't is also possible...
That your wedding vendors have sold your information to direct marketers as well? I've always thought that's why I keep getting this junk - but perhaps it's from LIWeddings too? Hmmm....

I am sure it is a combination...
We get tons of junk e-mail and snail mail ever since we started wedding planning. I know that both places that we booked for our reception put us on mailing lists. I am willing to bet every inquiry I made or catalogue I ordered brings more junk mail. The one time I gave my correct info at a bridal show was probably the biggest mistake!

all the halls you looked at...
put you on their list...I got an invitation for 'Thatched Cottage' Brides...I am getting married at Land's End? SO all of that info you fill when you go visit a hall can be rented/sold For calls...go to the NYS website...there is a NYS law 'DO not call' list...I am on it and it is great...I really haven't been called by anyone since (some people can call you)...I have gotten many calls from Body Heat and I reported them to NYS and they get fined $2000!! (Again they said they got my number from the Thatched Cottage) good luck

Yes it does and the problem is some vendors have thier staff on hear to contact you. One DJ company has sent me three emails about thier company. I already have a Dj and i am very happy with them. If anyone needs help and wants to know who i picked i am using Get In Tune Productions. I feel i made the best choice with them. I have all my major stuff picked if anyone needs help post it.Welcome New Vendors
