Yeah the church doesnt book that far in advance...I am getting married in 08 and when we went to book it in october or november they said to us they haven't even booked anyone for 2008 yet and they didnt have the book, but they booked us anyways so we were the first booked for 08 lol.

They still let you book tho?? I dont care if I have to pay extra, I just want to make sure I get the church I want on the date I want! The church is one of the most important things for me.

Yeah they still let us book but then again they had to start doing a book for 2008 soon anyways...plus Fh's mom is in the choir there and does fundraising and a bunch of things and they've been going to that church since FH was a baby, he might've even been baptised there...but yeah it was 2 months before 2007...just go there and ask them when you can book for 2009...plus i know you mentioned something about easter, so see if that is even possible

We booked the church for 2009. The pastor was taken aback and thought it was kind of funny since he didn't even have a calendar yet but he put it in his computer and we already filled out the paperwork and left the initial deposit. If you've been with the church awhile I don't think it would be that much of a problem. We know we'll probably have to fill out the paperwork again with more recent information but that's not a problem. Don't worry, you'll get the date you want!!

Re: Did you book a church yet??

I wonder if I am going to run into a problem. I went to OLPH in Lindenhurst. I live in Babylon and my family is a member of St. Joseph's in Babylon.

IMO I don't like St. Joes and love OLPH. SO FH and I decided to go register at that Chruch. However one of the women who worked in the registar office said we did not have to be a member of OLPH to get married there. She said we can go to the registar office at St. Joes and fill out a form and have them sign it or something to allow us to have our wedding at a different Chruch. We then bring it to OLPH and I guess pick a date there....

SOO confused and guess I should figure this out soon because I don't want to get pushed out of a date because I dont belong to OLPH....

Re: Did you book a church yet??

This happened to one of my friends:
She booked her RH before she booked her church. The priest got very offended because he asked her what she thought was more important. The church or the RH. Of course she said the church was. Then he said: What if that date wasn't available? The date was available anyway.

I had my heart set on my date and RH so i was really careful not to let the deacon at my church know that I reserved a date at my RH. I put down my deposit right after i spoke with him though.

Re: Did you book a church yet??

I have my interview with the church tomorrow evening. If they ask why we want the date we are going to explain that its the only date that works for us both financially and with our job situation. Hopefully they understand!!

What exactly goes on during these interviews?? Do we have to bring anything?? Im kinda nervous that they are going to ask us if we go to church and stuff....bc we dont and I cant lie about that!!

um i think you might want to bring your baptisimal certificate. But I am not to sure- I could be wrong.

Let us know how it goes...

I am just nervous booking the church for the day we want and then not getting a hall that day and having to change it...to much stress lol

I wish I could book the church but my FH had to file for an annulment so we can't do ANYTHING but we had already put $ on our RH so if anything we are going to a Community Church.

Re: Did you book a church yet??

I have been very actively involved wth my church since I was born. (baptised, went through sunday school, confirmed, youth group member, on many committees and did tons of fundraising...) I haven't done too much lately since I am too busy with work and school, but I am absolutely sure I will have no problems getting the date I want. (We don't do tons of weddings, anyway, so if you are looking for a pretty, quiet, cozy church in Bay Shore try United Methodist of Bay Shore on Main Street across from MARS Auto Parts.)

Steven and I spoke with the priest like a month ago...they didn't have a 2009 book yet, but they put our names in at the end of 2008. My wedding is Memorial Day weekend so I don't want anyone else to book the Church that day!
