So I did a ton of research and FH and I decided on Sandals Grand Antigua for our honeymoon. I read a ton of reviews and met with a travel agent and feel like I did all I had to do to make an 'informed decision' haha. So I just put a deposit down and now someone at work told me she went there and felt SO SCARED AND UNSAFE ALMOST TO THE POINT OF WANTING TO GO HOME EARLY!!!!! None of the reviews said people felt scared and unsafe. She said the resort is too small and she was bored after a few days and to not even consider the idea of leaving the grounds. Have any of my fellow brides been there and if so did you feel bored and basically scared to death or would you not recommend this resort? HELP!! THANKS!!!!!

Did you feel safe at Sandals Antigua?
My fiance and I went to Antigua 2 years ago and stayed at a nice resort there (not sandals). I don't feel like it was unsafe at all!!! I wouldn't go strolling around at 3AM but if you do an excursion you will be fine. I heard great things about the sandals there and I am sure you will love it!

Re: Did you feel safe at Sandals Antigua?
My sister lived in Antigua for a few years when she was a flight attendant and I visited there a couple times. The island is very safe. It's a popular tourist destination and most people love the resort.
The only reason why I wouldn't chose it over somewhere like St Lucia or Jamaica is that I would get bored like your friend. The only thing Antigua has is nice beaches. If you like outdoorsy stuff like hiking and sightseeing, waterfalls, etc., an island like St. Lucia or Jamaica is better suited.

Antigua is one of the safer islands. It is so diverse. I did not stay at Sandals when I went there..I have stayed at Sandals in Jamaica and Sandals in Bahamas. They were both relaxing vacations but not much partying (DH and I LOVE to party). So we went out of the resorts to party.

I havent heard such things however no matter where you go lately you should always stick to your resort or with your local tour guide.
