Hi ladies, did you book your band by going to their showcase? Is there some other way to hear them, like do they give you a sample CD?
I feel like it will take months to wait for all the showcase to come up, and by then they may have booked their dates.
Suggestions? TIA

If you call them, most will send you a sample DVD. It's never the same as seeing them live, but it will definitely help narrow it down.
Also, a lot of bands have audio and video clips on their web site.

Yes, I went to showcases- I think you need to hear them live to really get a feel for the band.

I went to a showcase for my band but I actually booked them before seeing them live. They sent me a cd.

I would def. go see them live. For the amount of money the bands charge now a days I would want to see them first hand not from a CD. Most of the bands websites lists their showcase dates. Good luck.

You can also contact them and see if they are playing anywhere local. Lots of bands that book weddings also play at some of the clubs and bars.

Showcases, clubs (bars) and their DVDs. Before booking my band we saw them at a showcase first, then at a club.
For me seeing the DVD (video) was ok, but I had to see them live.
I still go see them play at clubs.
We went to tons of showcases as well.

I didn't have time to go to a ton of showcases so I started on the websites to hear clips on them. Called the ones I was interested in and heard good things about on the board - and many sent DVDs. From the DVD's I narrowed it down to the ones I liked and saw them in person at showcases - then booked! GOOD LUCK!
