I'm thinking of doing this because the makeup would be MUCH better than what I could do..
is it a bad idea??

I'm doing it this way on Wednesday for mine! Lots of girls do this...it's a great idea! Even my makeup artist suggested I come for a trial when I have something I need my makeup done for.

My sister did that and the pics looked really nice. If you like what the makeup artist has done then go for it. You can also get an idea of how the makeup will look on the big day and if you want to change anything a little or add a little more.

i personally did not, but I think its a great idea. I just wasnt even thinking about MU back then SO i say go for it!

I was gonna do that but decided not to only because I dont want to have a similar look in my e-pics and wedding pics.

I also didnt do that but its a good idea if you do different makeup and use different colors. I agree with Denise i wouldnt want to have the same look in both photos.

I had my first mu trial on the day of my e-shoot. Unfortunately I hated the trial and had to redo most of my makeup on the subway! So just beware. If you like your trial it can work out great, but if you hate it....not so good.

No, I didn't but only because I'm using Mia and the trial was in Bethpage, LI and I wanted to do my epics in Central Park, so I didn't want to worry about traveling all that on the same day and be flustered etc.
But more importantly, I did my hair AND makeup trial on the same day so there's no way I would have taken my epics with the same hairstyle that I want for my wedding! The makeup wouldn't have mattered too much to me because you can always do a slightly different color on the day of the wedding, or you can just put a different lipgloss over what they put on you to give a different look.
I also wanted to book my MU artist in February and I wouldn't have been able to take my epics outside at that time.
But I do think it's a good idea (so long as you don't do your hairstyle too!). What I did for my epics was to go to a counter at Saks and have them do my makeup (I used someone who had done my friend's makeup before so I knew she was good).

I did both hair and makeup trial with Mia on the same day. My day of hairstyle is different (more hair tied back) than the style i had in my e-pics. 12th Night actually recommended that I have my trial to see how the makeup would photograph.

This is a great example where you actually can do your hair and makeup trial on the same day as your e-pics ... your hair looked awesome and not overdone for your e-pics! And since you'll have a different style for your wedding, that's perfect!

I did my MU trial the same day as my epics. I'm planning on doing a 2nd trial to pick the day of colors. I think its a great idea.

i did both my MU trial and Epics on the same day, but it was more because i was only home in NY for 2 days, so i had to cram in as much as possible. but i was so glad it worked out that way - i wasn't sure how i'd look with lots of makeup on, but now i know how i'll look in my wedding pics and i'm much more comfortable with it!! it was fun too :)
