I did not hear that but I disagree with that also. Luckily the company I work for is expanding on a regular- but we all still have that fear in our minds.
I always feel poor...another Check from the government would be GREAT!!!!

If August was the end of the recession, then we're in a LOT of trouble...................

The global recession has ended. In the USA, not so much. Everything got messed up and the natural cycle of economics was ruined with the interference from the government

Then why did FH come home yesterday and tell me he was 99.9% his job was being phased-out today? Guess I just have to wait and see until 5 o'clock.

Just because it is the end doesn't mean we won't continue to feel the affects. It will take at least a year for us common folks to start to see/feel the end.

Re: did you hear in the news that August was the official end..
I def disagree, my father worked with his company for 15 yrs. and he was recently laid off/termination due to budget cuts with the staffing. Also, if that was the case, there wouldn't be so many unemployed college students. My sister graduated last year and she still hadn't been able to find a f/t position. Maybe it's been improving in other states slowly but def not here in NY. Globally, we're not doing so well ourselves. This is due to the stimulus pkg./grants that were given to low income households (keep in mind this was when we were in recession already). This happens when there is not enough money in the fed and money is continually printed out for distribution, it causes inflation lowering our currency.

Maybe on paper, but not in reality
I hate when pundits and commentators make sweeping generalizations regarding this, when unemployments is still at an all time high and wages are lower than ever.
We are nowhere near the 'end' of the recession.

You haven't booked anyone??
I know, i know, its horrible!!! I´m getting married in April!! That is why I stress so much sometimes. It because I´m in South America. I booked the hall unseen (had my parents and sis go in) but I feel like they didn´t negotiate anything. We just got the price they told us over the phone with no add ons or extras. They almost always give you something when you actually go in with the money. (or at least i think so). And now that I want to negotiate something they won´t (even just giving us a bigger room since they are available). I guess once they have you locked into something why bother giving you more free?? Since I´m on such a tight budget I´m doing the rest of the negotiations in person end of Oct/beg of Nov.
Thankfully, I´m still finding vendors that aren´t booked in my price range. I think its cause i´m getting married good friday. most people don´t want to get married that day.
As for the recession, its not over yet!! At least not here and it sounds like not there either!!!
