Re: Did you hear who took over...
My Fiance and I met with the Villa Lombardi's people tonight about booking the Port Jeff Country Club for next October. They're undergoing a major renovation which will be completed May 2004, I would imagine to give it that Lombardi style. The only thing they had to show us was a sketch of what the outside would look like, but I was assured that if I liked the facility the way it was, I'm going to absolutely love it when it's done. We were told that everything you would get at Villa you will now get at PJCC. Believe it or not they're already booking up and they're offering to refund your deposit if you're not happy with what you see when the model is finally ready.
I've been to five weddings at Villa and I was impressed by all of them so I have no doubt the PJCC will be just as good. We're looking at a couple more places this week and then we'll make our decision.

Re: Did you hear who took over...
I heard about that this weekend as well. Were the prices still reasonable? I heard that the prices were going to go up quite a bit from before.

I'd like to hear info regarding prices here as well. Will they go up a lot? PJCC was very reasonable and nice to begin with, I can imagine it will be beautiful but will it still be reasonable? (After looking into the wineries I'm considering this place as well for antime between August and OCtober) Did you get any ideas about the look of the palce and what will bedifferent??Would love to hear any info!!!!

Re: Did you hear who took over...
Since you guys were asking about PJCC.....as of a week ago they only had a sketch of what the outside would look like and it was nice. They said that there would eventually be models to look at. From the questions I was asking about the decor, it seemed as though alot of the decisions still weren't final. We were quoted $79.95 for a Sunday evening, I think a Saturday night was $89.95. I can't remember off the top of my head but for 2005 dates, the prices were going up significantly.
Let me say this if you're planning on looking at PJCC....they are offering a ton of food in true Villa Lombardi's fashion, I'm sure the place will be gorgeous BUT we didn't feel as though they 'wanted' to do our wedding. While the presentation was excellent, it kind of had that 'we have a 5-page waiting list of people who will book without seeing anything, so take it or leave it' feel.
Personally I left lacking any connection to the place because we weren't in the space that our wedding would be in. For me, getting that feeling is important. I just couldn't wait all the way to May to see the place, by then it would be to late if we weren't satisfied, so we decided against it.
I wish you all the Best of Luck either way!!

Re: Did you hear who took over...
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I am sooooo sad over this news!!! A major renovation????? That means that the PJCC will never again look like it did when DH and I were married there just 2 short years ago!
Oh, this makes me so very sad. I had hoped that we could continue to go back there on our anniversaries, but now it just won't be the same.
ETA - I just tried to look at their website, and it's already been taken offline

Claud-- I know how you must feel. I loved the PJCC the way it was too. I think that's what made our decision so difficult, it's hard to think of it any other way. I'm glad we made the choice we did (we decided to go with the Miller Place Inn) because tonight we're taking my Father to see it and in a few months we'll have a tasting and bring the rest of the parents. We wouldn't have been able to do that at PJCC until May, just 5 months before our wedding. So for us it was the right choice.
Congrats on your Two Year Anniversary!!

Re: Did you hear who took over...
Do you know when these renovations are going to start? My rehearsal dinner in November is there and I don't want it to have scaffolding everywhere!!!!
