My FH and I just started looking at houses (we've been looking in the paper and online for a while) we walk into these houses and some of them are def. NOs and the others we walk out saying 'that house was nice' but... nothing that has KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF! I was just wondering if you 'just know' when you find 'the house'. It is so hard to find what we want in the area we want!! Everything is SO expensive!!! AHHHHH!! Thanks ladies (and men)

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
The first one we bid on knocked my socks off immediately. Then we were outbidded. As I thought more about the house, it was beautiful and new (4 years old) it didn't bother me so much because it was small and we would out grow it pretty fast. When my agent sent me this house I was like I MUST see it, and that was just from the outside. I loved it immediately and I could see myself living in this house. I was showing the picture to my friends and saying this house is my new obsession. When we pulled up I didn't show the picture to Frankie because he is more at looking at the structure and foundation stuff. He was in love IMMEDIATELY. His favorite thing about the house besides the condition is the staircase and the coy pond. We knew. It was the only house that we would have went as high as we did.

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
We looked at over 40 homes! Not one did we walk in and say this is the one! There was always something that set at least one of us back. My FH saw our house before me, when he called me he was so excited, so we went to see the house 2nd time that night at 8pm. When I walked in I could totally picture us in this house! We were there for over an hour! when i walked out I told our RE agent, that I was nervous, basically it was because after months of looking it was the only house we both agreed we wanted! We put a bid in the following day!

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
We looked at a few homes that were nice or def. no. Then, we approached the driveway of another house, and immediately, it was YES YES YES!!! We didn't even have to look inside, we didn't care, the view alone was worth every penny,...and that was it, we bought that home.

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
Absolutely, yes! For me, anyway (not necessarily DH)
When we pulled up to the house (in the dark, cuz it was the evening, in the Fall) .. I just had this feeling .. well, the feeling got stronger as soon as we entered the house .. and before even checking out the best part .. the upstairs .. I knew we'd be making an offer .. whether it was accepted or not .. that was a different story .. but it just felt like home .. a feeling I got at no other house of all the ones we looked at .. and now it is ours.

DH sister said to me (when we were looking in GA a year ago before we were engaged) that if you can picture your Christmas tree in the house, you know it's the one....
And so I fell in love with my house.....we may or may not get that particular model, but I like a lot of the stuff that particular builder does.

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
The house I am buying I told my FI if the inside is livable we are putting a bid on it. I fell in love with the area, the property and the potential. This house is definately going to be gorgeous but right now its cute. I think the planning of the wedding ($$$) and buying a house at the same time ($$$) has definately made me ??? everything. There is only one house I fell head over heels and actually felt like crying when we couldnt put a bid on it because it only had 1 bdrm and we need 2. He has a daughter from a previous marriage. Let me just say I have no regrets, I am very happy with this house and cant wait to close and move in.

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
YES Absolutely we knew! We looked at many that knocked our socks off but for the price we were both like 'eh' -- we officially STOPPED looking (well we did, our realtor never stopped) - then about 1 week later he called with 'our' house - we LOVED the neighborhood - and the house needed cosmetic work but I immediately saw the potential. After 3 visits in 3 days, we put in an offer and it was accepted. It was just 'meant to be'. You WILL know when you find yours!

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
You can make 'any' house yours. We factored in the area, school district, layout or flow of the home (so there were no structural elements that we had to change) and budget. Granted there were many, many, many, definately nots that we saw it is very difficult to find an existing home that is exactly what you want.

Re: Did you 'just know'?!
We did....and it came out of the blue. It was unexpected. We went looking every weekend and never found anything, or got turned down. All of a sudden, our agent calls us, we go look at the house on a weeknight in the pouring rain, and i knew it was ours!! (at least i hope so - still in attorney review! lol)
