for your photo/video already? The reason I'm panicking is that my proofs are ready, but I'm told that I need to pay the rest of my balance for when I pick them up.
I'm not a very trusting person when it comes to things like this. I feel that I shouldn't have to pay the rest of my balance until I get everything back. All albums and video.
I've heard the stories of the Queens Bridals gals and afraid that can happen to me too.
Any advice? It's in the contract that we pay x amount of $ at certain times (which we did), but they have over $3000 already, so I don't see why I should have to pay any more until I pick up my albums and video.

I paid in full on the day of my wedding. As long as they are a reputable company, it should not be a problem.

a little paranoid yes, but its hard to not be when you start reading horror stories.
Honestly, if you see the proofs and they are great, and you havent had any issues with them thus far, you will need to just go with it. The contract says you will give them the rest, so you gotta.... keep in mind that the contract will protect you if on the off chance they dont deliver.

does your contract say when you have to pay the balance or did someone on the phone tell you that...
check your contract.
if it's there... then there really isn't anything you can do.

Our contract required we pay the last 10% upon picking up the proofs. We paid in full before our wedding and no problems so far.
If you've already signed a contract stating you'll pay in full before the albums and video are complete, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

I have to pay in full when i pick up my proofs. I wouldnt be worried because they have to lay out the $$ for your album which definitely isn't the balance but they have to get paid before they do all of that work. How do they know you will pay them after they complete your album. Some strange people may decide they cant afford their album after the photographer makes it and then what?? I know it's stressful giving all that money without a finished product. Don't strss too much--what happened in queens was a fluke from what i understand. My friend Colleen got very screwed in the deal

We didn't pay in full until we received our album. When we ordered the album we had to have 50% of the fee paid up. I understand you not feeling comfortable paying before you get the final product. As the other ladies said check your contract.

I paid a deposit and the contract says that I pay a partial 2 weeks prior and then I pay the rest when i pick up my proofs

I paid all but $400 before the wedding day. Then I paid the $400 balance when I picked up my proofs. We're upgrading our album, though, so we'll put a deposit down on that when we go for our consultation and pay in full when we pick it up. If we weren't upgrading the album, we'd have been paid in full already.
If it's a reputable company, you shouldn't have any problems paying in full. Besides that, you're likely obligated to pay in full now by the contract you signed anyway.

i feel the same way ~ we should pay 1/2 of the balance the time of pickup of proofs and the rest when i recieve my albums and such!
We had to pay the balance in order to get our proofs...

We pay the balance, remaining 20% when we pick up the albums and are satisfied with them. I think that's the way it should be, you are paying in full for the completed product. Ask the company, maybe they can do something for you.

interesting question. i booked photo and video at the same place. contract says i can give the remaining money when i pick up the final product.... but i know video takes much longer to complete than proofs. so when would i give in the final payment?
