He suprised me one day and asked me if I wanted to go ring shopping. We went to my family jewler and I showed him a few settings I liked. We didn't even talk about it again until 5 months later when he proposed. He did a great job with the little guidance I gave him

Sort of. I hinted to him and told my MatOH what I wanted. It's my mothers original setting with sapphires(our birthstones) on either side. The end result looks a little different, I have to get a pic for all of you!

He knew I wanted a Princess center stone. Then we looked in the city once and I saw a few bands that I liked. But in the end he went and did it all and it's gorgeous!

i told him what i wanted and he got the exact opposite the first time around. Then we 'upgraded' and got the one i wanted.

When I began working in NYC's diamon district FH came and we went window shopping. I had tried on a ring that I loved. I find out almost 3 years later when he proposed that he went back the week after we went shopping to buy the setting.
aww, that is so nice!!!
my FH picked it out all on his own but i made it abundantly clear that i wanted round brilliant (b/c i wanted it to be classic) as the center stone. the teardrops on each side was a total surprise so that was really nice! and then setting and it all together and him actually proposing was all a big surprise!! it was very nice. i think FH would have picked out round even if i didn't tell him b/c his mom has round and he likes classic looks too-- but i wasn't taking any chances hahaha!! he did so much research and homework on it omg!

Fh just knew that i liked princess cut and biguettes ... he did the rest himself .. I had NO IDEA that he was looking though!

We picked out the setting together and then he went and bought the diamond on his own..he did a very good job

I didn't help at all...I actually had no idea he had even been looking! The only time I had mentioned it was at a concert when I saw a girl's ring and commented on it. He asked what I liked and I didn't really give him much to go on...he managed to get it right anyway!

I had picked out a couple of settings so FH would know what I liked, we had completely different ideas of what we like...he wound up getting the setting that I REALLY wanted!!!
