I just went back to work last week (in a school) and I have to say, I am not handling it well. There is no air conditioning, so I am dripping as soon as I walk in the door. Between my back hurting, having to run to the bathroom all the time, etc.... I don't know how I can even make it another day. I am 38 + weeks along..... did you or are you planning on working up until you give birth? Did anyone get a doctor's note beforehand? Do you think my doctor would give me one or does there have to be a medical reason other just pregnancy complaints? THanks

I think you do would def. write you a medical note, but you have to check if that time is counted towards your maternity leave. I am not sure either way... WoW not much longer now!! Feel good

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
I am due December 7 and planning on going out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, that's about 1.5 weeks before... at least you dont' have that much more to go, but I think in order to go out sooner you might need a doctor's note. I can go out 2-3 weeks before BUT that is counted towards my maternity leave, so I'm trying to stick it out until the absolute last minute... try to hang in there, maybe you'll go early!

I'm only 26 weeks pregnant, but my Dr. suggested that I stop working 2 weeks before my due date (38 weeks)! I can't see why your Dr. wouldn't give you a note - afterall your back hurts you can't be on your feet all day!

I worked until a month before. I was working as a bartender (and hostess for the last month) and couldn't handle the non-stop 9 hour shifts.

I plan on working until about 2 weeks before my due date. I have a fear of going into labor on the Long Island Rail Road!

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
With Emma I worked till my due date. I went to the doc on that day and they said I was 2CM dilated and would probably have the baby that weekend (it didnt happen till 5 days later). My job was 5 minutes from my hospital and it was a pretty cushy job so I felt comfortable working that long. BUT as soon as my doc said I was dilated I left work to rest and prepare for the change of a lifetime.

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
I had a doctor's appointment on the 10th (I went during lunchtime) and I came back to work and completed my backlog of open items because I was 2 cm, 100% effaced. I was planning on going into work the next day, but my water broke that night. Amber was born on the 11th.

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
I am planning on working until the week of my due date. If I'm a couple of days late I am going to start my leave the following week. Unless as it gets even closer I feel like I can't do it.
I'm sure if you talk to your doctor they will give you a note for you to be out.

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
My due date is November 14th, and i plan on working up to the last minute that I possibly can, at lteast through the 1st week of November. I want to save as much maternity leave as I can for when the baby arrives.

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
My due date is Oct 16th or 18th (depending on which doctor I see!!) and I plan on working until October 15th. I want to save as much time as I can for AFTER the baby arrives. I believe if you go out earlier than planned it counts towards the 12 week max under the FMLA.

I worked up until 41 weeks when I was induced for toxemia starting. I would have rather worked up until the day. I think if I were home for those 3 weeks, I would have went absolutely nuts.

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
I'm 37 weeks now and still working. As long as I still feel pretty good and don't have any problems, I plan to work up until my due date. If it looks like I'm going to go PAST my due date (please God, no) I'll probably reevaluate the situation and look to start my maternity leave.

Re: Did you/are you working up until your due date?
I would've worked up until my due date, but I went into labor 5 days beforehand and had a C-section. I had to stop working my PT job, because I couldn't fit into my work shoes, but continued working my FT job. I wear sneakers and jeans there.
