Did your ceremony go smooth?

Did your ceremony go smooth?

Ours went sort of smooth we had a few slip ups:

When the officiant ask who gives this bride away. My dad's best friend walked me down and he was supposed to say 'I do on behalf on her father'. Well that part came and we were all waiting and my mom had to elbow him to say something.

Another is DH repeating everything she was going fast and he forgetting what she was saying and had to ask her to repeat the parts. Everyone was rolling.

And me I forgot where DH's right hand was. So i was embarrassed.

Ours went pretty smooth, any slip ups were pretty much cute. DH forgot to put my wedding ring on me.....it was really sweet...he was so nervous. The officiant was moving onto me and I had to push my hand toward DH and nudge him to get him to put it on.

Here's a pic of us cracking up:

Re: Did your ceremony go smooth?

For the most part...despite everything, the ceremony was my favorite part of the wedding overall.

We had a few semi-humorous moments...when my Dad gave me away, as he kissed me on the cheek it made a vibrating sound, kinda like a fart. Thank God that sound didn't end up in the video.

The other funny thing was as we were lighting the unity candle, it lit, and then started to look like it was going out. We froze there unsure if we should re-light it but it came right back. It wasn't a very high flame so in our video it almost looks like we didn't light it.

There was one really diappointing thing about our ceremony. We only had about 45 people there and that's including the wedding party. Our church is really big so in some of our pictures it hardly looks like anyone was there. I'm mad to this day about certain people who I know could've made it but didn't. Certain friends of my Mom who when their kids got married, my Mom always went to their ceremonies. My side is small anyway, but DH's side is large, yet most still didn't make it. Some of them I know we've gone to their ceremonies. They're supposedly really religious too, so I don't get why they'd skip the church. All I know is, I'm keeping record of who didn't make it to the church, and when them or their kids get married, we'll skip their ceremony too.

Everything was fine for the most part. Our priest kept calling me Keith and dh Kim Then he called the readers by the wrong names too...for instance Christine he called Catherine...he kept asking for Catherine to come up and no one was moving everyone was looking around. We eventually realized who he meant. When we went to light our unity candle I realized the one I was supposed to used to the the big candle was cracked in like 3 spots, so I looked like an idiot trying to figure out how to hold and not light the whole place on fire.

for the most part it was wonderful. 2 little things. DH said be careful going up the altar step and of course I figured no problem and promptly almost tripped on dress cause I didn't think I need to lift it up a little.

with vows, when I went to slip ring on his finger it started to be snug by his knuckle so it required a little encouragement and hefty push with grimace on face to complement that. shame they didn't get that pic. but got a big grin on the pastor!

Re: Did your ceremony go smooth?

We had a very small incident. I had written personalized Intercessions for my Aunt to read. Unfortunately, the Priest gave her the standard ones instead of the sheet of personalized ones I had handed in at the rehearsal. Honestly, it made no difference because she still had something to read & nobody except her, my mother, & me knew the difference. I just felt bad because my Aunt blamed herself & started crying hysterically after she finished because she thought I would be upset & of course I absolutely was not!

Perfect in every way.... it was amazing. I had the most perfectly planned Mass.... that hour and 15 minutes was the happiest moment of my life!

it was also so smooth because I was so OCD about the music, readings, etc. In addition, the priest and all the musicians and other participants in the Mass were all close friends, so there were no goof-ups.

Yeah, once it got started.

The organist was a 1/2 hour late!

Re: Did your ceremony go smooth?

Ours went pretty smooth even though I was quite late to the church. The only 'thing' that happend was I had been outside for a long time at my house waiting for the limo and outside of the church that Iwas sweating a little and my hands started to swell up a bit. DH had a hard time getting the ring on me. The priest was like 'ooooh it doesn't fit' You hear me on the video say 'uh yeah it does' DH was trying to use the holy water the priest blessed the rings with to slide it up my finger. I was freaking a little during the cermony but laugh about it all the time now.

Well I forgot to walk down the aisle with my bouquet! I didn't even realize until I got up there, and didn't see them anywhere and I thought Oh Sh*t did I forget my flowers!!??
Luckily, one of my girls slipped it up there and no one really noticed.
One other thing that happened was the organist started playing the song at the wrong time, but it wasn't a big deal, it was kind of good to have a light moment there and see people smile.

Yes, it was perfect! Just a few minor mistakes but nothing bad. The whole thing felt like a dream.

ummm - I had a queen bee in my veil at the end of the ceremony - that was comical....

and at the end - the Rev. called me Daniel... my MOH lost it ... and one by one we did too- it's on video - its great!!!!

being called Daniel had always been a pet peeve of mine...

yep, it was still perfect even though we were all sweating like beasts up there!! the sun was beaming down and blazing hot. my sisters got a case of the giggles as they watched all the guys light blue shirts slowly turn a darker shade.

the officiant had forehead sweat dripping into his eyes and couldnt see well, we felt soooo bad. i think it also sounded like he said 'fart' once instead of 'heart' bc his mouth got dry. LOL. a few others noticed and laughed about it later. he did such an awesome job tho!! poor guy all dressed in black. what can ya do?

the sun was directly in my eye as i walked down the aisle and as we did our vows which made for some interesting shots. i look like im scowling. lol

im sure ppl were not liking the fact that we had a ring ceremony, sand ceremony, family medallion, etc..bc they probably just wanted it to end so they could get back in the AC!

Re: Did your ceremony go smooth?

My 3 year old nephew was the ring bearer and he cryed all the way down the aisle! My sister who was my MOH had to walk down with him, he wouldn't go down without his mom! it was acutally pretty cute - because even though he was in tears he stilled waved to everyone he knew!

Re: Did your ceremony go smooth?

Nope. The monsignor who did the ceremony was horrible. He started at the rehearsal. He knew that I didn't have parents and asked me 5 times where they were????
He allowed the church to have a prayer service B4 my wedding and they would not allow the handicapped guests to come in the church. So everyone went into the church at the same time. They also left up a 10'x10' projector screen on the side of the altar. They use this to project the words to people sing at mass. (It as not supposed to be at my wedding and it is an eyesore in the video and pictures). The priest then screwed up the order of the wedding ceremony. This was my family church where we gave hundreds of hours of volunteer time when I was a kid. (at that time there were different priests). I was sooo mad. I wish I could have received a refund.

For the most part everything went great, except I almost broke DH's finger trying put the ring on and my officiant forgot to ask my aunt and my mil up for the unity candle ceremony.
