Did your photographer stay with you until the reception was over?
I'm having an extra hour added onto the reception so it is 5 hours. I want the photographer there early so he can take pictures as me and my bridesmaids get ready in the bridal suite (hair, makeup, dresses). My photographer works 9 hours, and then after that I have to pay overtime. Should I pay the overtime to have the photographer stay the whole time, or is it okay if he leaves at 10 or 11 after the cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc? What did you girls do?
ETA: We are also taking pics before the cocktail hour.

Our photographer did not put a time limit on his time with us. He told us the entire day is the time he will be there. From beginning to end.
ETA: Ok...now that I actually read your post...duh to me... How much more is the overtime? I would prefer he be there the entire day, but how much $$ is it going to cost?

mine didn't. I would have liked to have had the money for him to be with me for about 12 hours but we just didn't. Instead I chose for him to be with me a bit earlier, when everyone was around and alert, then at the very end when things were winding down. I think he left about 30-45 minutes before the very official end of the night. So no professional last dance photos, etc...but I have a ton from the table cameras and other people who took some great pics for us.
We also didn't have any grand exit. I think if I had done a sparkler exit or something, I would have definitely paid for him to stay because those shots are soooo nice!!

My photographer left after the cake and parent dances etc. It was about 45 min before the end of the party. The videographer stayed until the end. I didn't think it mattered because he was there for all of the important things. He just missed some dancing for the last 45 min. The dance floor was packed all night so we have plenty of pics of people dancing.
ETA: I used Sherwood Triart as well and they were awesome.

Thanks girls. I just looked at my contract, and really its very reasonable to add on one or two more hours after overtime. $150 per hour. For the piece of mind that I have him there for the entire event, $300 is not bad at all!

Our photographer didn't charge by the hour. They are starting @ 9:30 am until the end at 5pm.

We have our photographer for up to 10 hours, but he is still leaving after the cake cutting. We wanted someone to stay and take pics of our 'getaway' in the vintage Rolls Royce, so the other 2 photographers are staying til 12:45 (just under 10 hours) to do that.

My photographer is nuts!! he suggested that he come to the salon the morning of to take pictures of me getting ready. I dont now if I should do it, but you know what? Once the wedding is over, Im going to want memories of that!
Just a thought since we are talking about photographers.

I'm getting ready at the bridal suite, hair and all. that is calculated into my 9 hours. but I think i'll talk on maybe 2 more hours to be safe.

my photographers started at 12noon, and left the reception after the cake parent dances bok tossess....about 12:15 that night... they were gone... after venetian hour was presented took their last photos and were gone

My contract stated that our photographer was to stay and photograph until the end of the reception (standard length). He tried to leave about an hour before the end of the reception, but my DOC made him stay.
I was less than pleased.
The last hour of the reception was a lot of fun and if he had left, he would have missed a lot of fun pictures.
