Did/does anyone have people who assume they are invited to your wedding....
but are not. This has happened numerous times already. There are some ladies that I work with who keep telling me they are looking forward to my wedding. How do you handle situations like this? It just really bothers me that people assume they are invited.

Mention to those people that you are on a tight budget and have had to cut the guest list significantly. Are these a lot of people? Or is it possible that you can put them on the 'B' list, that is when you get a 'can not attend' then you can invite them? The whole situation seems very uncomfortable I'm sure.Have you discussed it with FH?

Bali-
The funny thing is, I really have no desire to have these people at my wedding. I discussed it with FH and he thinks I am too nice to anyone to say anything. I just cannot belive how people can assume. I know that in 5 years if I am not at the same job, I will not ever speak to them again. I guess people don't realize what they say sometimes.

When people assume I usually just dont comment. When they dont get an invite and ask why I will simply say we were limited. Thats it.

In that case, I'd go with the tight budget and cutting the guest list. Sometimes people do say things they don't mean, maybe they were just being nice. But, in order to avoid work tension right before and after the wedding I'd go with the cutting the guest list rap.

I have been in the same situation. I respond the way Wacky does.

Same here, just don't say anything, or just mention the fact that your budget is limited and you are having only relatives. I know that is horrible that people asume that they 'must' be invited!
good luck,

I think so but they are from FH's job so I don't have to deal with it, and he never lets anything bother him, I am going to avoid going over my total amount needed in all ways possiable..

Oh yea. I work in a fairly small office (20 people). There is one guy that I cannot stand he is just soooooo arrogant. Last week he asked me if my wedding would be serving kosher food and I told him no why would I be serving kosher food, neither one of us is Jewish, he then tells me, 'Well sorry I wont be able to attend' EXCUSE ME, I had no intention of inviting you.....grrr makes me sooo angry

LOL Jodi, I was going to post this same topic.
We have gotten it so much from ppl. No more Ms Nice guy from me. I pretty much say-' we are still finalizing our guest list, if you are so fortunate to make the cut, we will let you know, if you do not hear from us then you will know'
A bit harsh, but I do not like being put in such an uncomfortable situation such as that, so I will make them feel uncomfortable.

YES! We met at our old job. The people there were pretty much involved in us getting together. Since we started going out, I had left the company and he changed stores. We communicate very little because FH still works for the company. One woman from our old store said to him over the phone one day that she is going to mark her calendar! And can't wait to come. He was like, UH!!! anyway, we are still discussing this, our old store manager doesn't even work for the company anymore. To make a long story short, our guest list is already OVER 250 people, so we are not sure what to do!

I let the people at work know: we have to cut somewhere and work people is where we're starting. I had this one girl tell me, if i'm not invited I'm coming with so and so.... and then I told her so and so isn't invited either!
The only time where I felt uncomfortable was when my ex's WIFE told me that she better get an invite to my wedding... how do you say, uh, sure just don't bring your husband!
