I've been soo good this past week and am down 3 pounds woo-hoo. Portion control and giving up soda and vitamin water is working However I am going to a wedding tonight. What can I eat at cocktail hour and the reception that won't totally blow my diet? (I don't eat chicken) Suggestions please!!!

Re: Diet Help
I would recommend to stick with the fruits and veggies at CH.
Do you eat fish? Usually the fish dishes are a pretty good choice.
Alternate alcoholic drinks with water and use sugar-free mixers (i.e. diet tonic, diet soda, seltzer).
Get up and dance to get some exercise in!
Most of all, enjoy the WEDDING....not just the food! Mingle, have fun!
ETA: and this trick is good for all buffet type meals - Scan the options first. Take a walk around (CH for example) without a plate. Decide on the things you really want to have. Then get your plate and your food.

Re: Diet Help
honestly eat whatever you want enjoy yourself and then get back to eating good tommorow. You are allowed to have 1 cheat day. It sounds like so far you are doing great, enjoy your self tonight and go back to what your doing tommorow!!!

You'll be good with any of the fresh fruits and veggies at the CH. Can't go wrong with some hummus instead of creamy dressings, if they have hummus. Sushi (again, if they have) is good too. Avoiding anything fried is key (ie., spring rolls, mozzarella triangles, etc.) If you find yourself really wanting to try some kind of cheese, or something in a puff pastry, etc., then limit yourself to one. Having water between each alcoholic drink will keep you hydrated and make you feel fuller.
As for the dinner...I'm not much of a help since I'm vegetarian, but if you don't eat chicken...I'd imagine that fish would be lower in fat and calories and red meat, could be wrong though.
And shake that boooootay

Re: Diet Help
I find that depriving yourself is the worst thing you can do. So, I wouldnt stuff your face at the cocktail hour, but pick a few things you are dying to have...and try a small sample of each. I dont like fish, so I usually will get the steak at a wedding. I find that it's not loaded with cheese or creme sauces etc like some of the chicken dishes.
The drinking is usually my downfall. If I drink -- i lose all control and eat everything in site. So, i would limit your drinks : )

Re: Diet Help
If you avoid the 4 no-no's you will be in the clear:
Breads (pastas included) Sugar ( pass on the dessert) Fried Anything Cream Anything
You will survive. If you want to try the cake, take a fork full and set the rest aside. I do this all the time when we go to fuctions. And dance the entire time! The more you are away from the table the least likely you will binge
MY Big secret is this: Eat an apple or any fruit before you go. So this way, you're somewhat full for C.hour.
