diets for diabetics???

I tried to go on a diet a couple of months ago and in 1 month I lost only 5 lbs. I worked out, and watched what I ate. Which was hard enough because i dont like fish and lots of veggies just chicken. Lots of chicken. I was so mad. so I gave up. I have to go for blood work Monday because I had an episode at work yesterday in which the doctor said I might be diabetic. I heard its harder for diabetics to lose weight is that true and what can I do.
I still fit in my dress and everything but I could lose a lot of weight. But its hard. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Have you ever considered going to a nutritionist? I wouldn't want to mess around with diabetes and maybe your doctor has some suggestions about possible change in diet. Good luck and let us know how you do!

I agree! Definitely consult a nutritionist. My FH has been diabetic since he was 8 years old...he is the skinniest SOB I ever met! Don't worry about the weight, but defintely consult a nutritionist.

Actually the diets that are out now resemble a diabetic diet. Diabetics need to watch their carb intake and diets like atkins and south beach follow the same guidelines. Also, if you come to find out that you are a diabetic and they put you on a prescription, you'll lose a good 5-10 pounds on the medication. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

My mom is a diabetic and I went with her to a nutritionist. She specialized in diabetes. I highly recommend going to one. It was so informative and she went over everything.
Also walking is great for you. Which I am sure you already know the effects on walking.
If you want any advice on that nutritionist let me know. She is in Suff so I'm not sure where you are located. But that are many nutritionist all over. Good Luck!
