ok, call me stupid, but what's the difference between the 2? I want to learn one and I'm not sure which one to go for. Can someone please tell me the difference?

Re: Difference between knitting and crocheting?
Knitting - two needles.
Crocheting - 1 hook.
I find that Knitting is easier for beginners because it's only one of two stitches on a basic level.
Crocheting was always difficult for me because once I was a row or two in I didn't know where to pull from (that would make more sense if I could show you what I mean).

Re: Difference between knitting and crocheting?
basic knitting is not hard...but the simple knit and purl stiches are boring looking...
but there are so many simple things to do while knitting to give a great look (believe it or not...but cables are SO SIMPLE)
my mom taught me to crochet first...so i always think that is the easier...and I think getting used to the chochet hook is easier than holding the 2 knitting needles...

i prefer crocheting... reason being i dont like the feel of holding the two needles.. didnt feel comfortable for me...
but this christmas im getting 'yarn around' which is a substitute for the two needles so i can try knitting again!

Re: Difference between knitting and crocheting?
i have always thought crocheting was easier - but i learned when i was around 7. so i have been doing it forever. i had a hard time learning to knit, but after a couple of classes had it down pat. both are fairly easy once you know how to do it. it's really more about patience than anything!
