Difference of opinion from MOB

I bought a home with my fiancee this January, we got engaged two months later and are planning our wedding for this September.
I'm the last child in my family and my parents are paying for the reception, my dress and are helping with paying for the flowers. My mother says I should stay at her house the night before the wedding and have my hair and makeup done there, surrounded by many of my family members and my two matrons of honor. I'd have to pay for extra time for my photographer if I do this among other expenses.
Also the church we're getting married in is literally 3 minutes away from my new home. If I stay at mom's it's 1/2 hour away! Which means more limo time and perhaps and extra limo (more expenses). On top of that mom says I should ask my nieces to be my bridesmaids when I clearly stated early on that I was only going to have my two girlfriends in my part of the wedding party. 'I should include them because they are blood.'
Last but not least I should be thinking of my other guests who have to travel and change myceremony time to at least 10:30am or later. My reception starts at 12:30.
Does anyone have a similar situation that can advise me on what I should do about staying at mom's or my home and asking my nieces to be part of the wedding party or not?

I'm not sure that my reply will help you at all but here's my thoughts on things.
First, everyone tells me that it's our wedding and we should do it the way we want to. Having said that, I know it's hard and I do give in on some stuff. So the flip side is that this is one day in your life, a really important one but you will be dealing with your mom for a lot more days after this so you have to weigh just how hard will feelings be if you do what you want.

I think I would try to present it as a practical matter as you have presented it here and say you would prefer everyone to come to your house to help you get ready which would save on limo time. If your reception time is fixed at 12:30 I don't see that it would be easy to change the ceremony time without being in a crunch for time and getting photos done. Can't you say this too?

Maybe you could compromise and pick which are the most important issues to you and which are lesser and change those to please your mom?

thanks for your thoughts. There has been SOME reckoning on mom's part for me staying in my own home. The thing I may have to still compromise on is inviting my nieces to be bridesmaids. Still don't know y et.

Wow...she sounds just like my mom! First off, where will you be more comfortable? Couldn't everyone come to your place to get ready instead? As far as inviting the nieces goes - do you think they even want to be in the bridal party? It seems to me that my mother is alwasy so concerned about everyone else without even knowing how they feel about it, thus just causing more drama! I had to battle with my mom about the same thing and ended up telling her it wasn't going to happen. She was unhappy for a few weeks, but is getting over it.
Good Luck!
