Different Bridesmaid Dresses

Different Bridesmaid Dresses

I know I have a ton of time to think about this but I'm thinking about telling my girls that they can each pick their bridesmaid's dress from one collection as long as its the same color. Would I have to go same color AND same material or would just the color be good enough? I'm wondering if satin and chiffon would look odd in a line. I only have three in my bp so its not like there would be 100 different styles. What do you think?

I personally think that the material doesn't have to be the same! I love seeing different dresses on the BM's! My BM's are choosing different style dresses, but the color and material are the same (because we picked from that David's Bridal collection). But I think it would look fine (and it would be really nice of you) to have the girls in whatever they feel comfortable in!

I would definitely say pick from the same designer, color AND fabric. Chiffon colors and satin colors often vary a bit and I would hate to see that show in your pictures...Also keep in mind Satin is thicker, more siff material with a different shine to it. Chiffon is flowy and has almost a matte finish to it. I think it would look lovely though if you had them all wear a different style! great idea Ang!

Edit: I meant Satin is thicker...not chiffon!

Thanks Bonnie. I just feel like my bp aren't little girls who should dress identically. Two of the three are already married... I would probably at being a bridesmaid after being married, I dont want to them to feel uncomfortable in a dress I chose!

I know exactly what you mean. FSIL's are older and have already been married. I don't want them to feel juvenile in some foofy dress I pick out! Luckily there was something for everyone at DB. I just hope alterations don't turn out to be more expensive than the dress!

I love that idea Ang!!! Just tell them same designer, color and fabric. There is a difference in color with the different fabrics.

I've been thinking of doing this too. I want everyone to feel comfortable and beautiful. I haven't started looking yet so i'm not sure about same material. I'm just nervous because I have eight girls - which i think will be more difficult to pull off then three!! Now that I think about it everyone in my BP is married except my two neices who are 13 and 15! If I don't do all different dresses I will just do a different one for my MOH

I agree-I want my girls to be comfortable and they ALL have OPPOSITE body types! I want them to choose their own styles but I want to keep the fabric the same---I feel like the colors will all be slightly off if their in different fabrics!
Do you guys know which desiger lines offer different styles of dresses in the same fabrics??!!
TIA!!

Personally I'm not crazy about the different dress idea I like uniformity in that sense. However my girls are all wearing the same dress in eggplant and my MOHs are going to be in the same dress but in lilac

OMG can we be any more alike??? I have 3 BMs too and I am having each of them pick their own style of dress...but I want the same material and designer and of course color.

Ive seen a big difference in the color (in pictures) when a brides bridal party has chiffon and satin pictures. The dresses don't erally look the same color, sometimes the satin looks darker, and the chiffon looks lighter. It all depends on how you want your pictures to look.... but...ITS YOUR WEDDING!!

Great minds think alike, plan weddings on the same day and possibly will have the same wedding shoes!
