I'm having a really bad time with reading certain quotes in magazines (new magazines), and on web sites, and when i talk to a rep from a RH theyre quoting me way higher than what I'm reading.... On my budget for a hall, this is not going well, is there a certain way to talk to RH's I mean are prices negotiable generally? I'm kinda timid and freaking out about not finding anything...

Re: Different quotes on RH
yeah I found that a lot of the times, the prices in magazines, etc. were for their cheapest possible dates, like if you wanted to get married on a Tuesday night in January. Just a way to get you in the door...

In the magazines they give you the price without tax and gratuity, so yeah when you actually go to the RH it will be higher...So always remember to add on to the price, figure maybe $20pp extra

Re: Different quotes on RH
Yeah and also in the magazines and on sites, they will not post prices for a june wedding, they will have it for off peak like the pp mentioned. This way they would get people who would never go to look at the place and they hope to work their magic and convince you to have it there.

Re: Different quotes on RH
If you check out this thread it should give you some ideas of where different brides found different prices for different times of the year on their search
Also if you post your budget, how many people you are expecting, what type of place, and when you are looking to get married we may be able to help you in trying to find a place to fit your budget!!!

Re: Different quotes on RH
After seeing how much others have budgetted, I'm a little embarassed... We can't spend more than 12 grand on a hall, and that's really the top, trying to find something around 10grand total... am I hopeless?

Re: Different quotes on RH
My hall including tax and gratuity for a sunday night in Oct came to 12K for 110 people. Ceremony decorations, CH decorations, lots of food and drink, cake and more. Oct. is the peak month at my hall. There summer rates are really good. I gues because they are not on the water?

Hmmmm how many people, do you need to have it on Saturday, what type of location are you looking for. NYC is going to be pretty expensive.

How many people are you planning on having? Unless its a LOT of people, I think you can find a really nice place and stay within the budget.

My first suggestion is to change the month, june is going to be more money regardless...Do it during an off-peak month

Re: Different quotes on RH
Fox Hollow is actually on my list of RH to get quotes from, they're the ones with an INN too right? We think we will have 100-120 people. I've pretty much ruled out NYC as an option because of $$$.... so have been looking in Long Island, most of the halls in Queens I looked at were pretty cheesy and disappointing. Thanks all for your suggestions and help, I didn't realize getting married was gonna be so stressful!! Now I know why some brides becom Bridezillas...

Definately check them out then. They will show you the Winter Garden Pavillon. Pic in Album. Very pretty! And like I said, my price quote was for their busy season! I just loved them so much I didn't even shop around. we probably could have saved money but they were within our budget anyway.
ETA: You can FM for info.

Re: Different quotes on RH
Ok i have a question, its probably a stupid question but is the $10,000 the budget for the RH alone or the whole wedding...Just curious because wow i'll give it to you because I don't know how its done. I mean just photographer, flowers and DJ alone can be around half of that and thats only if you find like a real good deal...I am just curious thats all...Then i am thinking, what about the dress, limos, invitations and all those other things.
