Different types of Baptisms...

I know how the pouring is done when the baby is baptized, but how is the immersion done?

What religion are you having your baby Baptised in? The celebrent will be able to tell you about what will take place during the ceremony.

The only immersion I've ever seen done is my nephews who are Greek Orthodox. The grandmother undressed the baby, which was part of the ritual and then they had a huge pool of water and the baby was dunked in feet first, probably up to chest height.

LOL my one nephew pooped right on the floor while he was naked but that's another story....

I don't know if it's the same if you are Catholic, I didn't know they did ceremonies like that in the Catholic church.

I've been to many Roman Catholic Baptisms, and I've never seen an immersion.

They do anoint they baby's chest with oil (as well as the forehead. You need to loosen the clothing so the priest can reach that area.

I have never seen a full immersion either but I know that the baby is naked and dunked.
Did your Priest say that do that?

Well, the church here in NC that we're taking our Baptismal Preparation class, (same where we took our Pre-cana classes), said they do an immersion baptism. I don't know about the church in NY though... I'm going to call them tomorrow to find out.

I dont' think they do that in the Roman Catholic church. I have only seen the water on the head.

I didn't read your last post Melissa. I guess if they have it in NC then there are RC churches that do this. My bad. But I have never seen it around here or at any of them I have ever been to. (I have seen it with adults in the ocean though. - very strange)
