Does anyone have a difficult person that works for them? One of the girls that works for me has had a complete personality change since Christmas. She has only been here since September and her attitude towards the work she is doing and the place we work is really negative (only since the beginning of the year though). Granted, there is a lot of negative energy here since many of our employees are a bit disgruntled, but she has taken it to the extreme by being disrespectful of others and me. As a relatively new manager I'm not really sure how to deal with this. Anyone have any suggestions?
Sorry for the randomness of this question but you girls are so helpful in everything else I thought I would give it a try!!!!!!!

Re: Difficult Employees
I am a Marketing Director and yes these are some the things that I have to deal with at times. You should take her aside and have a talk with her. Let her know that her attitude is not coming across in apositive light. Try to find out from her if there are personal issues that ahe is dealing with that is also playing a role in her attitude. Based on her feedback you will know how to address her. She needs to work on her attitude and also tell her that attitude is a big part of being a professional.

you sure said a mouth full and i agree with this approach. this person cannot continue her reign of terror on people especially on you who has seniority. it's also your duty to have control over your staff. i know when a woman v another woman it can become very catty but you can't let this deter you. this will give you the experience you need to grow as a manger. good luck with this.
