Just wanted to vent. so FH and I have not really set a date as of yet,. ( We are thinking Sept 09) Anyhow, FH's aunt asked FMIL when the wedding was... her exact words were this: 'I'M not in any rush'. Can you believe that??!! I'M not in any rush?? As if She's the damn bride!! What the heck was that supposed to mean??
*We are not asking her to contribute, by the way*

Re: Difficult FMIL......
She sound's almost as great as my FMIL Don't even let her know it upset you. I think that gives them more ammunition.

Yes don't let her upset you. Just enjoy your planning and when you two are ready to set a date then do so. Don't worry about her or what she says.

Not to suagr coat things.....She is probably way excited for your wedding, but at the same time doesn't want to seem pushy.

Sounds like my FMIL, who a few weeks ago was speaking about the wedding and who was going to be invited and said something like 'they are coming to our wedding' . . . as if she was the one getting married!! I just ignore...

Re: Difficult FMIL......
just try to enjoy this time, you just got engaged. My Fh and I didn't book unitil 5 months after we got engaged. Maybe she didn't mean it that way. Try not to let her get to you, especially not this early on.

Whoa...that's pretty rough...definitely a veiled insult...I hate those so much! You look stupid if you react to it!

Gotta love FMIL's. My personal favorite is implying EVERY SINGLE TIME I see her that she believes her son could never really be happy with me because I am not good enough for him...

That's terrible!! Although, my FMIL does not have to say it....it's quite obvious!!

I think parents forget that when their son or daughter gets married, it's not the PARENT'S wedding! Try not to let her upset you, just let it roll off. Enjoy your time planning and being engaged!

Re: Difficult FMIL......
wow, this kinda makes me glad my FH hardly ever talks to his mom. I don't think I could bite my tounge if she decided to make any comments.
FMIL's hardly ever think any girl is good enough for their son. So, you can rest assured that it isn't you... it would be any woman that wanted to marry her son. If you think about it... in 20 yrs or so we just might be the same way with our sons

Re: Difficult FMIL......
I'd have asked her when she was getting married.
I do agree with the others, though - don't let her get to you. Enjoy the planning and try (hard as it is) to ignore her.
