Re: digital camera
I'm very partial to Canon cameras in general. I have the 35mm film EOS and LOVE the thing. I'm hoping one of these days we'll get the digital version but spending in excess of $900 on a camera these days is not exactly in our budget.
Not knowing your budget I would recommend the following:
Canon Power Shot A550 7.1 MP 4x optical zoom This one's around $200
Canon Power Shot A710IS 7.1 MP 6x optical zoom This one's around $300
Canon Power Shot SD800 7.1 MP 3x optical zoom But has an image stablizer to help prevent blurry shots. This one's around $400
Canon Power Shot S3IS 6.0 MP 12x optical zoom/4x digital zoom Image stablizer This one's also around $400
HTH!

I agree with Jennie!
Cannon all the way! We have one, it rules! We are also research freaks and my man is a computer engineer and reads tons of useless crap that informs him of the best stuff out there technology wise.
get a cannon.

Re: digital camera
I used to work for Canon and all their cameras are great--I have three of them! They are compact and take great pictures and have lots of features. My only issue is that it has slow shutter speed so it takes a bit of time to load up in between pictures. I also now have a Casio, which I was really leery about at first but it is fabulous--small, light, easy to use, big screen and wonderful prints.
