Digital camera question

For those of you who have posted close-up pics of your engagement rings - did you use a digital camera? My digital camera can not take any close-ups without coming out very blurry. I can't take a darn picture of my ring close-up!
I also can't seem to take a picture that isn't that blurry without using a tripod. I have an Olympus - whatever the weatherproof one is. I am thinking of trading up.

I think I took mine from a distance and then cropped it.

I was having the same problem. Then I started playing with the flash settings and then I was able to get a good, close pic.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Sometimes changing shutter speeds help too!

noooo guys - just set your digital camera on MACRO mode (read your manual bc all cameras are different) but there is prob a macro button on your camera, looks like a little flower symbol over it.

You will be able to take a pic from only 2 inches away.

I can only take a clear picture without the flash with my arm fully extended out.

What kinds of cameras are you guys using?

I have 2 diogital cameras. One is a Nikon Cool Pix 5200 and the other is a Kodak Easyshare 6490 w/ a 10x zoom. Both have macro modes. DH has the Fuji S7000 and has macro mode too.

What kind of camera are you using? I will try to do a little research for you.

It's an Olympus Stylus all-weather one. I think it looks like an earlier version of the one pictured here:

Thanks for offering to research for me. I'm going to look at our manual this weekend. It has a symbol that looks like a tulip and also one for 'portrait mode' but they don't do anything different.
