Which do you prefer and why? Does anyone know how many mega pixels their photographers are using and does this make a huge difference in the qulity of the pictures?

Re: Digital v Film
Its really a personal preference - after seeing a lot of work, I've decided that I like digital better. At a photo meeting yesterday, I was told the new cameras they use are 12mp or so.

There was a great discussion on this a few weeks ago. As a bride whose wedding is over, I am so glad I had digital. I do so much with my digital files. If the photos had been taken on film, they would have lost quality in the scanning process to get to digital.

definitely digital, they can do some cool stuff with digital photography. they can create those shots where the whole photo is black and white and your flowers are in color, they can copy and add stuff to the photo...etc.
Film is too old school. I don't know how many megapixels my photographer uses and I don't really care, his shots are beautiful and I'm paying for him to be up on his technology so I don't have to think about it.
film went out even way before VHS.

Film looks beautiful, but I am going with digital because they can fix everything up and add and delete things. A friend of mine had these two little curls hanging down from the back of her head and she hated them in the pictures, so, the photographer cut them out!

I would do digital if I had the chance. You can always get prints on photo paper.

I am using digital also..The qaulity of the picture is better and they can fix and add things to the pictures that you can't do with film.

IMO.......digital all the way- I like the magazine like albums they do- fixing up and adding effects is super easy and you have all your pics on a CD, AND you get ALOT more on digital than film

I asked this question a while ago before I booked my photog. Some people said they preferred the 'richness' of film photography. But digital photography is much more versatile. I think most photogs are using digital these days. Plus digital is more cost effective I think.

I'm using digital. It seems like a lot of the photographers that we spoke to are using this now-a days. I would be sure to ask the photog how long they have been shooting weddings in digital... and go wtih someone who is not a novice in the technology!

we're doing digital. we chose it because we'll get the original images electronically and can play with them ourselves. also, our family lives all around the world so we can post the pictures on our website for them to see.
one of the benefits to digital, i think, is that the photographer can see right then & there how the picture came out.

I'm doing digital. I knew someone who paid thousands for her pics to have film and the shutter was messed up so all her pics were with half open shutters. After hearing that, I could never do just film.

Re: Digital v Film
I am one of the few film brides out there.
My personal opinion was that I chose the best photographer and the one I wanted to spend and entire day with. I love the traditional albums, and hate the true magazine styles, I feel they look cluttered. All my friends will have digital cameras and I can use those images right away. You can always have the film negatives transfered on CD later.

We're using both. Our B&W photos will be film, and our color photos will be digital.
We just had a preference for film, the clarity is better and you can still alter pictures done by film if you have a good enough scanner and some talent with photoshop!!!

Re: Digital v Film
We had digital. I am really happy with the quality of the pics. I also tend to blink in a lot of pictures and the photographers were able to see that during the pics. I probably would have had a ton of shots ruined by my blinking had it not been for digital. I believe my photographer had a 12 megapixel camera.
