Do you prefer/is your photographer all DIGITAL or all FILM???
I have two quotes (exactly the same) in one studio its Package #4 (the highest value) and in another it is the lowest value package. The only major difference (minus a few prints here or there) is that one shoots all digital and the other all film.. which should I choose?

I personally ( if you love both photograhpers work the same) would go with whoever has package #4 -the highest package.
I feel like with alot of companies you 'Get what you pay for' if you are getting their top package I think that will show in your photos and they will work harder for you. With the other company they will look at it as you are going with the most cheap package they offer and I just feel like they might not work as hard to make you happy as the other studio This is JMHO btw and I could be totally wrong.

Re: Digital vs Film
Absolutely film and I ahve said it on 1000000 posts!
This is a litle more complicated though than you are asking, because there are a few other things you should take into consideration:
Does the film photographer scan the negs and give you proofs online, and do digital effects at no charge?
Does the digital photographer give you actual photographically printed prints that you can hold in your hands
those are some things to consider. Is it more money for the effects/album style you want? Also I think if it's just a price comparison, then you get a lot more with film. You have actual negatives which if taken care of o basically last forever, and can be scanned, so you can have the best of both worlds. Also with negatives you can go to a photo shop at any time and have them printed (just try bringing a CD to get printed euuugh....gross prints most of the time).

Do film. You definately get a crisper picture. If you want ditigal because you want it on the computer you can always scan it in.

Re: Digital vs Film
Digital is absolutely NOT better quality. Many professional photographers wil switch to it for convenience, flexibility or economy, but none of them will EVER say it's for quality. There is no photographic journal in the world who will say that digital quality surpasses film. It is approaching film in many regards but it has not yet met or surpassed it

Re: Digital vs Film
I'm getting film. I can scan later if I want the pictures on my computer.
Plus all my friends and family will have their digital camaras and I can use those pictures if I feel the need for digital images.

Thanks girls--
The things is--I get the proofs (not negatives) w/ both, and a cd w/ the images for the digital.
I'm still stumped...

I still think you're getting more with film. Ask how much it is to buy the engs or to have them scanned on CD. Explain your dilemma, maybe they'll work something out with yiou

Re: Digital vs Film
i have a 5 megapixel digital camera and i have noticed that i hate the way the pictures come out... they are too clear and show all the imperfections on people's faces. i think they are great for scenery but not for people. is this just me? i am worried that if i get digital, i will look funny :)

Re: Digital vs Film
Film - absolutely.
The quality is sooooo much better. Ask any photographer you visit who shoots both to show you the difference. You'll see the proof right away.
