Digital vs. Traditional (film) photography

FH and I are meeting with the photograher on Mon evening and we have to give a decision whether we want digital or film. I know their are pros and cons to both so i was wondering if everyone can tell me which everyone used/are using and why
Thanks girls :)

Basically what was explained to me is that nowaday all the machinery to print the pictures is more compatable to digital film. so we opted to have digital. Also photographers loose a lot of time loadin and reloading their camera with regualr film..who knows what great shots they might miss while doing that!

We went with film and couldn't be happier! Digital pics normally look better at first, but are much harder to zoom in and enlarge. Ask your photog and look up other threads on this subject. There have been great discussions on this.

i love the look of film, but the great thing about digital is that you can edit it to give it the look of film.

You will get great results with film or digital. However, you will get more shots (more variety) with digital since there is no reloading of film involved (but reloading batteries still) and with digital shooting the photographer can see what was shot instantly (i.e., did anyone blink).

If your photographer is good with digital (not just adding it on for the sake of saying they do digital photography) and if your photographer uses top-of-the-line digital cameras and lenses as well as the computer system/software to do the editing, then go for digital. You can get printed proofs with digital just as you would with film. And as everyone noted, you can get more creative with digital files.

A high end digital camera and lens will produce great results. And if the resolution is high enough (which it should be if you get the high res files from the photographer), you will be able to zoom in and make enlargements of that zoomed in area

A quick test with one of our digital photos - we got an all digital package.

same photo but zoomed in on my husband's cravat

Given a 16 x 20 in a side by side comparison of film versus high quality digital, you would not be able to tell the difference

We have 2000 x 3000 images shot with a FinePix S3 Pro & FinePix S2 Pro cameras. I did not ask about the camera models but noticed in my photo software that it comes up as part of the 'shooting details'

The one drawback to digital is you will get a ton of photos. We have 1300 and it has been difficult to narrow down to the 220 maximum photos that will be in our 10 x 15 coffee table album. And we have 1300 totally different shots not 2 – 5 shots each of the same thing like we had heard of with some digital photographers

We are going with digital. We are getting a CD of our proofs so we can upload them and print them on our own. It was more economical then having to order all our pics from the photographer

We had digital and the pics were crystal clear! We also have the DVD with all the proofs so we can do what we want with them (change to B&W, sepia, etc.)

I think we are having both (I should check on that) but I know we are not having a digital album....just a regular one. I think I confused MYSELF!
