There is an opening at a catering hall that my finace and I love for a good price. The problem is that it is for July 2004! I am not worried about most of the planning because my finace is a videographer and has been in the business long enough that he already knows the DJ, photographer, florist and videograher (obviously) he wants to hire.
The main thing that I am worried about is the dress. I would have to find a dress in the next two weeks, order it and hope that it will arrive in three months (to allow enought time for a fitting). This is really stressing me out! Advice?

I would make sure that the vendors you want to use are free then book the new date. As for your dress - you can always check sample sales or maybe on the web? Netbride.com or bridesave.com - they may have the dress in a short amount of time.
Good luck!

I would totally do it. How good is the price? Do you have your heart set on a certain designer for your gown? If you do, is the price so good that it will make up for the rush charges that you might want to pay? Are you a sample size? You could buy a sample gown if you are an 8-10. There are even a couple websites that sell samples. If you don't have your heart set on a certain designer, would you consider Davids? They have some really nice dresses, and you don't have to rush, most of their dresses are available off the rack. If I were you though, I would do it! I would LOVE to have gotten married a year earlier than expected if we found a good deal.

Re: Dilema
You would have the major vendors squared away...finding a dress could prove to be time consuming - but you could definitely get it within 3 months. Mine came in in 3 months, when I was told it would take 9.
I say go for it. You have a wealth of information on this site and a great bunch of bride's (and groom's)-to-be that are incredibly helpful.

If you know that the vedors you want will be available, then go for it, but I think you may find that even though you know who you want, they will probably be booked. If the dress is the only thing holding you back, don't worry about that. Many places can put a rush on your order, though you will have to pay a little extra. Think about going to trunk/sample sales where you buy the dress as-is. I know that David's Bridal prefers selling dresses off the rack as opposed to ordering them.

Re: Dilema
go for it!!!
I am getting married July 25 this year .. and I just ordered my dress last week from Netbride.com. It's a Maggie Sottero, and they said I'll have it NO LATER than June 2nd (most likely earlier)
You'll have time for the dress, trust me! Just also check to see if the rest of your vendors can be booked .. I haven't booked everything yet myself, and I'm not too worried I won't get it done in time. Once I got the hall/church/video/photog/and DJ out of the way, I figured I had time for the little things ..
You can do it, esp. if you love the hall so much!!

Re: Dilema
I agree- go for it. You can get a dress.
What about a ceremony? If its at the hall, it shouldn't be a problem- try officants right after you book though.
If you want it at a church/synogogue, call first. Some book quickly, or like you to wait at least 6 months before you get married.
ETA:
my co-worker did it in 4 months- and she had TWO dresses!! ( for a civil ceremony & a Catholic ceremony. )
