Re: Dilemma
I don't think so. The license is a legal document filed with the state. I think you can have as many religious ceremonies as you wish. I believe, however, that the officiant at the first ceremony is the one who signs the license, but I am not sure. Check with your local clerk's office, they'll know.

No, you will only need one. You should ask the marriage license board which date to put on tho my guess is that the first will work. Are both religious officiants recognized by the state of new york?

Re: Dilemma
i would think you'd only need one. and thats the one that the officiant would sign and the date would go on.. unless you wanted them to sign the second one.FH and i are getting married in vegas on 05-05-05 and then having a jewish ceremony on 05-22-05 and we didn't plan on getting a second marriage license for that one we just figured the first one would work.

Judy;
if that is the case I am 95% sure that you will write in the name of whichever recognized officiant marries you first. The license is a civil document with the state -- they are only interested if a religious officiant is recognized to perfrom the legal event. You can verify with the license people but I am almost certain your are fine with the first date.
