So, my FBIL and FSIL have a good amount of money and have offered to pay for our invitations and any other paper items, like thank yous and such. I thought great, how generous and nice.
Now when we first got engaged my FSIL told me she would give us plane tickets for our HM and free stay in their Mexico timeshare or the equivalent cash- which would be about $2k. I told her we would rather the cash as we didn't want to go to Mexico for the HM.
But now, she's gone nuts with the whole paper products thing, she wants to order napkins for the bathroom and CH and menus for each place setting and programs. And the place she goes to is not cheap so it's costing quite a bit of money- like over $2K. So she said that it might have to be our wedding gift. Now I think it's so nice of her to even offer that and I'm so grateful but I would honestly rather her give the money to us instead of some vendor. Because, as we all know, the programs and menus, etc. can all be done beautifully DIY and if it was me- I would never spend my money on that stuff.
So what do you think we should do- not say anything or say we would rather have the gift money?

Re: Dilemma
Wow, you've got a very generous FBIL & FSIL!! It sounds like she's going a lil overboard for you guys, which she might not even realize she's doing. I think you and FH should sit down with them over dinner or something and talk it out.
First tell them how much you appreciate everything that they're doing and all that, and then explain to them your concern. Try not to come across as a bridezilla, but tactfully approach the subject of what you and FH's vision are for the wedding. Fill them in on where you'd rather see the $$ go, I'm sure they're reasonable people who will understand. Good luck!!
