Dilemma!!!!

Oh my gosh i am freaking out. We are planning to set our date on a Friday March 12th. We want to do it on a Friday because everyone we know prefer a Friday wedding. But my sister just told me that daylight savings time isn't untill the 14th. I don't want to go any further than the 12th in the month since Me an FH bday is at the end of the month so i want to have our wedding and honeymoon over before that, but how the heck are we supposed to take pics?

If you don't mind seeing each other before the ceremony you can take pictures then.

Lots of couples are doing that now and they say that it's just as special.

Thanks but I don't want to do that. I don't mind taking pics inside the RH and I know I can take a few outside pics there in the dark. I just wanted some outside of the church picks. Maybe I can talk to FH and we can move the date up a week.

Really, this isn't a reason to freak out over, or change your date, IMO.

We got married in December well after DST ended. Our ceremony was at 3pm, we were outside at 430 taking photos in the most amazing light! Check my 'random proofs' album for some of the shots.

I wasnt going to plan on having my church til 4:30 since my cocktail hour probably isn't going to start until 7. Should I make my church earlier just for pics. Maybe the church is going to give me an earlier time anyway so maybe i shouldn't freak out just yet.

I think if you don't want to do photos before the church, then yeah, i'd move your ceremony back by at least an hour, so you get the waning light. Here's our timeline so you can see how we did it:

Mass @ 3pm, finished by 4pm
Receiving line @ Church 4-4.25'ish
Photos outside the church and then at the Town dock in Northport: 4.30-5.30
Drive time out to Danfords: 5.30 to 6.15
Formal photos for all family and BP: 6.20 to 650.

Our CH started at 630, reception/intros began at 730, and ran till 1130. We released our BP and familes to the CH after we were done with formal photos.

HTH. I really wouldn't flip out until you know what your timeline is like. And see if you can get the church to start you at 3 or 330. That will help A LOT.

pictures can take a while and depending how far your church is you might need extra time, also depends where you are taking pics

My ceremony was at 2:30pm, but we also got married on a saturday and catholic churches have mass at 5pm and also do confession before that so the latest they do weddings is 3pm. After the ceremony we took pics in front for a bit and then drove to the area we want to take pics, we took pics at gantry park and 5 pointz in lic, queens but ceremony was also in queens. We took pics from 4pm-6:15 and then we headed to the RH which was in Long island. We got there about a little bit before 7pm and took some pics at the RH, relaxed a bit and then CH started at 7:30. People think 'oh what am i going to do with a big gap' but these things can take time.

If your ceremony is at 4:30pm, it will end at either 5pm or a little bit after depending if you do a mass or not. Then to do the receiving line, take pics in front of the church and you will get out of there about 5:30 or later, then to drive somewhere to take pics you might not start taking pics until 6pm, so that only gives you an hour to do this, and then to go to RH after. Unless you are taking all your pics at the RH but even then you still have to drive to RH from the church, and still will give you about an hour or so to take pics

Re: Dilemma!!!!

For a friday people have to leave work to come to the church...Sunday Twilight wedding they don't and you can get great pics...something to consider say like the 14th at 2:30 time for pics reception at 6 over by 11 plenty of time for everyone to go to work the next day and you have daylight for pictures

Re: Dilemma!!!!

This is just an idea, but you could always take some formal pics with your fam. and bridal party before the ceremony starts this way you will only have to take them with your FH after the ceremony is over, so you can use the remaining outside light for that, does that make sense? Also for Friday weddings most catholic churches are very flexible with time, you just have to keep in mind that people do have to work on fridays, you have to think what you would rather have, a 3:00 ceremony with an empty church but more outside pics, or a 4:00 ceremony with my people, and less outside pics in the light. I hope this helps you!

I really dont knwo why i am flipping out because I guess the pics outside the church aren't really that important. The photog will takes pics in the church, I can take a few outside, and the rest inside the RH.

i think that since it only 2 days before Daylight savings time it should be okay. i dont tihnk its going to be that much of a difference. but i understand being upset about it. good luck i hope it works out!

agreed. I did formal photos with my family at my house, then when the BM came before the ceremony, we did shots with them as well, so those were taken out of the queue of things to get.

there are lots of ways to accomplish everything so you don't have to change you day!
