Dilemma?

Dilemma?

I got an invite to a co-worker's daughter wedding. I kinda of know her, she comes in once a month and does some small filing. She's a really nice girl and we actually are facebook friends.

I am told it's polite to invite her to my wedding, and I totally would, accept I am already a high number and her mother of course is on there because I've worked with her every day for the last 5 years.

Then, of course, the FMIL says absolutely not (seems to be her choice words for many things).

Should I at least put the daughter on the B list?

Since when do FILs get to say who you 'can't' invite?

Like... okay ... they get some say in who IS invited... but not who ISN'T.

And ultimately its your decision.

Just personally... I wouldn't feel obligated to. She's probably just inviting you to be polite and/or get a gift to be honest. I dont think anyone will be hurt if you don't?

Re: Dilemma?

Well, the FMIL tells me 'I was invited in support for her mother, not the bride herself', and that it's ok not to invite her, but her mother?

I probably can squeeze one more couple....besides, i have not sent the invites out yet, not til august since i'm november. i have cousins in vancouver that will more than likely say no if they don't have the funds.

FMIL should S T F U! who is she to say who you invite?

and I dunno. I feel bad bc this girl invited you. It's sort of sad she's not invited. Put her on your b list at the very least.

Re: Dilemma?

FMIL never had daughters and I was warned in great detail what to watch out for. She's already talked me out of 2 things and I'm fighting the urge to talk back 99% of the time.

I know, not good.

Is FMIL paying for the wedding? If not she really has no say in who your inviting- add her on if you want.

Nope, not paying. Me and FH are.

I think you should send an invite since you recieved one to her wedding. And if your paying for the wedding then screw FMIL

Then your FMIL needs to stick a sock in it.

It's your funds, it's your decision.

And speak up. My FMIL is a fcuking nightmare but you know what - once I started standing my ground with everything (not just wedding crap) she backed off.

She used to say 'We need to do this'

She NOW says 'do you think it's possible if...'

Mmmhmm.

I would def try and invite her with the 1st round. She is inviting you to her wedding. 1 person shouldn't brake the bank.

Re: Dilemma?

you're probably invited to the wedding b/c of your relationship with her mother, not her. I do not see a reason to invite her to your wedding.

ETA: if you want her at your wedding, obvs invite her, but do not invite b/c you feel you are supposed to.
