while in Ohio this past weekend one of FH's uncles asked how they're getting from the hotel to the hall.
I said well, you should rent a car because LI is not like NYC and you really need a car to get around.
Later on FH said that maybe we should spring for the shuttle even though it's $400 and we would need 2 of them!
meanwhile.... I have yet to convince him that we should get a videographer. (I got a $500 quote for a basic package from someone my photographer works with).
Hell will freeze over before I shell out $800 for shuttles while not having a video!
HELP!

I didnt provide a shuttle. I figured they could do it the old fashioned way. Taxi, get a ride from someone else, or rent a car. I figured I shelled out ENOUGH money. That was definately NOT a necessity. Videographer IMO was.

and I'm with both of you. they're going to need to rent cars anyway. you can't be on LI for a whole weekend without a car. unless you don't want to leave the hotel.
IMO, the direction cards will be in the invitation envelopes.... figure it out

I provided a shuttle..
Talk to your hotel-- they may do it for free- some do have shuttle services.. Also, Ollie's was what I used for pick up-- was 60 bucks each way-- pretty cheap- our hotel recco'd them.
Guests were dropped off in the limo bus that we had for 3 hours anyway to transport wedding party..

who is Ollie's? is that a limo co.? the hotel already offered the shuttles to us at $400 a pop! and they only seat 14, so we need 2 of them.

Re: Dilemma and need your help
Ollie's is like a taxi service I think.. In fact when the hotel gave me their name-- I remembered it from years ago as like a neighborhood taxi.. Anyway-- they had white 14 passenger vans-- 60 bucks for each leg of the trip, so r/t would be 120. The hotel had told me this price- and I think it was like standard.. not sure.. My hotel was the Wingate and the wedding was at the Carltun-- it was a 3 min drive-- so it was very close.. but def worth a call.
Also- do you have a limo company already?? See if they have a vehicle that you could use..
OMG-- I am SO dumb.. It's all coming back to me-- we were going to use Ollie's then our limo company offered the service to us- unlimited trips for like $175 for 3 hours-- our wedding ended at 1- then we had an after party that ended at 2 30..

We used them too, they will make more than one trip, you don't need two. Just write a note in your OOT bags saying that there will be a shuttle. He will start picking guests up at such and such time and then be back at such and such time for another pick-up and same for drop offs. This way people will know exactly what time to be downstairs in the lobby to get a lift. That $400 means you have the guy for the whole night. Thats what we did and it worked out fine, no one was left behind.

Re: Dilemma and need your help
My hotel recommended getting a taxi to come to the hotel b/c it would probably be cheaper than renting a shuttle. We rented a shuttle to be safe--it cost $175 each & we got 1 for beofre the reception & 1 after. I think that if you get 1 that woudl $300 and then you can still get a video for $300 which equals the $800 for the two original shuttles. Just a thought...

Hey girl - why can't you get one shuttle to make 2 trips if the hotels don't offer the service? My hotel had it, so it was no worries for us.
