Dilemma over addressing invites! Help!

Would it be super cheezy if I hand addressed the invites myself? I can't deal w/ printing them on my computer and I don't want to spend the $$$ on a calligrapher. Any suggestions?

My husband has wonderful handwriting and he hand wrote all the addresses on our invitations. we bought some calligraphy type pens and he did it with them. They looked beautiful!!

Good Luck and dont stress over this...most people wont even look at the envelope!!

I think it is a FANTASTIC idea...

I always think handwriting invites yourself tells the guest that they mean a lot to you to take the time and hand write it out.

Honestly, I think that it depends on how good the handwriting is... If you do a mail merge in Word, the printing with the computer is not all that bad.

Keep in mind that the invitation is the first thing that your guests see and it kind of sets the tone for the wedding... Just my .02 cents....

If you have nice handwriting there is nothing wrong with it in my book. My friend's mom hand wrote all of them in a really neat script (her actual handwriting).

My envelopes were all hand written for the wedding. My MIL has beautiful handwriting so she wrote out all the address in script. I thought it gave it a very personalized touch. If you have nice handwriting and time...Go for it!

I would have loved to do them myself & add a personal touch, but I have neither the time nor the patience! Plus, my invites were very formal & the envelope was HUGE, so I thought handwriting was out of the question!

I only sent out about 100, so I paid a woman to do the computer calligraphy - $1.15 per envelope. It was fast, and $$$ well spent on getting something crossed off my list!! I loved them, so it was worth it in the end ... but I say

go for it if you have the time to do it! BUT ... make sure you have extra envelopes!!!

Good luck, sweetie!

There is nothing wrong with writing them yourself. Nor do I think that it in ANY way takes away from the 'elegence' of your affair!!

The problem is that I have the dutchess sized invites. They are super big. I don't know what style I should write it in & I didn't order extra envelopes (my stationer never mentioned that I would need them If I used a calligrapher).
