Oh Boy what a night. Patrick had an EXTREMELY bad nightmare last night. It was one of the ones I swore he had a 110 fever. He kept seeing mice & squirrels all over. He said they were biting his feet & they were all over the bed. When I was holding them he swore that they were on me. He was screaming & trembling. He was even awake at the time. I was freaking & so was John. I called the Dr's who told me to give him 2 tsp of Tylenol & see how it goes. Luckily, he was asleep 20 minutes later.
Turns out the Dimetapp that I gave him for his stuffy nose gives him delusions. I took him to the doctor this morning who after I told him what happened. Instantly asked if I gave him Dimetapp. When I told him yes he said 'Yeah my wife saw bats.' I almost keeled over. Why would they have this stuff on the market. He said that most cold medicine's have the possibility of causing delusions. I was shocked. I am going to examine every bottle of meds to the last tiny printed line.

i know my lil brother was banned from taking dimetapp- it would cause him all sorts of problems.

Oh my god. I had no clue that that could happen! Sorry you had to experience that! I'm avoiding Dimetapp from now on.

OMG, how scary!! That Dimetapp is dangerous, I see a kid in my private practice and she and all her friends take Dimetapp for recreational use on the weekends, I guess it gives the same delusions as if you were shrooming. Thanks for the warning, we try to stay away from all meds but tylenol.

Wow, did he say what exactly in the Dimetapp that causes the hallucinations? I'd be curious to know to keep a look out for it in other medications.

Was it the infants, childrens or regular? I love the grape taste but I never hallucinated. I left that for my surgery
