We do not agree on whether or not we should get our parents gifts. We are paying for the majority of our wedding, however, our parents are picking up things here and there.
our parents are paying for: RD my gown and veil (and also plans on getting my shoes and DOJ) the shuttle btwn the RH and hotel breakfast for hotel guests the next morning invitations
So my question is...do you think we should get our parents gifts?

Re: Disagreement with FH
i think you should. they are you parents afterall and you should thank them for their support. it could be something as simple as a frame with a picture of the two of you.

It doesn't have to be a HUGE gift. It could just be dinner at a nice restaurant and/or tickets to a show or something like that.

Re: Disagreement with FH
If parents are paying for ANYTHING in the wedding then definitely get them something, my parents are paying for a large portion of the wedding and we'd like to get them something nice, but since his mom isn't paying for ANYTHING, then we're not planning on getting them anything, why should you buy a gift for someone who's done nothing....can you tell how much I love my FMIL!!!!!!

I would get them gifts. I think it's respectful and a nice way to thank them for everything they did for you even if it wasn't wedding related.

That's more than enough to warrant a gift, and a definitely a nice one at that.

I think you should, it doesn't have to be anything crazy but they are your parents. We are paying for everything ourselves no help at all and we are getting our parents gifts I think it's a nice gesture!

Re: Disagreement with FH
It looks like they are supporting and helping you a bit with wedding costs. It would be a nice gesture, even if it's something small. Maybe you could frame your favorite photo of all of you or just get them a gift cert. to their favorite restaurant.

Re: Disagreement with FH
Even if its just a little something it will mean alot to them.. and they are helping you guys out a bit so I would get them gifts to show your appreciation.. You dont have to go overboard on the gifts, i am sure they understand you have alot of other things to pay for.

Re: Disagreement with FH
Both FH and I are paying for most of the wedding but we are still getting our parents something small, more 'meaningful' than anything.
I def think regardless of whether they are paying, they are our parents so a token of love, appreciation on your wedding day is nice.

Re: Disagreement with FH
2010 bride here:
i think its depends on your parents. my parents & FMIL already mentioned in passing that they don't want any gifts from us, they just want us to be happy & to have a great marriage. they also have even said that they don't want parents wedding albums, they prefer just one picture to hang up & a couple of brag pictures they can carry around.
