disagreements on guest list

disagreements on guest list

Fh and I have a little less then 6 months to go and we pretty much have our guest list finalized, but he has some family members whom I'd rather not have on the guest list.

FH and I have 2 daughters and 2 of his cousins and his Aunt(the cousins mother) made comments after I had each of my children. EX: i was to young, I had the kids to Keep my FH from finding his true love, I was 'easy'

He has them on the guest list cause he grew up with them(cousins)and because him, his brothers and mom lived in his aunts house after his father died...But I dont feel that I want them to be part of my special day-if you talk about my children- I dont want any part of you...

Please offer me some advice about this-I dont want to seem petty-but I dont like to even be around them...I dont want to be fake, ya know?

any advice would be appreciated-thanks for listening.,

I personally would be the better person and invite them (not inviting them will likely cause more drama and unfortunately you will be perceived as the bad guy). Simply say hello to them at the wedding and that's all. You will likely be too busy to really spend time with them anyway.

i have to say that is so cr@ppy that anyone could say anything like that, but i am sure you know how stupid people can be! i know its going to be tough to send out that invite. but i think you should b/c i have a feeling the drama that will go on if you DONT invite them. OMG!

i agree w/jennifer about the drama part, cause we know there is no end to the drama when the invite list comes into play. however, it is your wedding day, not your aunt's or his aunt's or your mothers third cousins neighbors sisters friends. do what will make you the most comfortable, people will not like things that happen, but if you waste your time wondering what will make every single person happy, you will not enjoy any aspect of your wedding planning. good luck

Invite them and put them in the back of the room

Good idea!

Personally, I think you should just invite them. It will end up causing more drama if you don't. You'll probably barely see them b/c you'll be so busy greeting others and having a great time!

I would invite them to keep the peace. You will not even notice they are there if they don't mean anything to you - you will be so happy, it won't matter!

This is a hard one but I think you have to invite them to keep the peace.

They are petty and stupid for saying such crap but they are family (close family too) so he probably does really want them to attend. If they are not invited he make take a lot of heat for it (or you will take the heat for it).

Best case: you invite them, they can't make it and send a nice gift. But I doubt that will happen since he lived with the part of his family for a while. So if they show up, have them seated really far away so they can't be close enough to talk to you every five minutes.

Also, not sure how old you are now or how old you were when you had your kids, but they may be past that pettiness and really want to share your day.

I think I'll sit them right by the DJ and all of his speakers and equipment

i have to agree with the majority that you should invite them...honestly i dont think you have much say because it is his family

sit them by the dj or something

that is rude of them making comments so i could see where you are coming from

I hate to agree with everyone, but you should invite them and stick them somewhere 'undesirable'. This is the time for celebrating - pettiness should be left aside - you be the better woman. Especially for your FI sake. Your children will be on display and glowing. Let the miserable be miserable - rise above the occasion and enjoy yourself!
