Disappointed

I was slacking on getting my act together with my pictures for my album and thank you card, but three weeks ago I finally meet with them and got everything done. Yesterday they emailed me the proof of my thank you card.

I hated it. The cover picture was my favorite pic of my husband and I from my wedding day, and it just looks awful. They photoshopped the **** out of me! I don't even look like myself. They airbrushed out the mole I have on my chin (which I did not ask them to do), they made my skin about two shades lighter than it normally was. They edited my hair and my hairline looks so weird.

Also the design of it just was not my style at all. I don't like vintage/rustic looking things. That was not my wedding at all (I'm sure you all remember my hockey themed wedding...nothing vintage about that!). So I emailed them back and told them I didn't like it and that I didn't want it to look so processed and I like bright, clear pictures. They wrote me back that they would make me a new card with a vintage feel. What the heck??? That's not what I want!! So I wrote back that vintage wasn't really my style and reiterated the point that I liked bright crisp photos. Hopefully they will send it back the way I want it and I won't look like a hot photoshopped mess!!!

I have different problems but I totally understand your frustration with thank you cards. It seems that you want something very basic and they are giving themselves extra work.

I searched the web for designs I like and sent that has my inspiration. I also send instructions on what I wanted to be done and I felt that it was only glanced at and not read entirely.

I haven't started my album yet but I am nervous because communication is now lacking and I have no direction what needs to be done other than 90-100 photos in the album.

ps- I am in the final stages of the my thank you's and they look great. I have a b&w photo on the front with Thank You, our names and date. Inside I have a large photo of our bridal party holding signs with our name and a pre-printed message on one side and I am going to write something on the other side. The back is a color close-up photo with no words.

I am disappointed because my photos are so beautiful, I never imagined not liking what they gave me. They did my best friends photos too and her cards are gorgeous. I hope they get it right the second time.

I just keep thinking of the Seinfeld episode where George asks a photographer to airbrush him out of a family photo of his new boss, and they accidentally airbrush out the boss instead of George. Then they replace the boss with a cartoon version

I just imagine getting my thank you card back with a cartoon version of me instead of my photo.
