Disappointed - Guest Vent

My deadline for my RSVP for my wedding was a week ago. I still have not received about 16 RSVPs - which from my understanding is not too bad.

Here is my vent - I went to college in Maryland. After graduation, I stayed and lived in Maryland for about 6 years. I had a few really close college friends who lived in Maryland as well and we would all go out together every weekend. I moved back to New York about 5 years ago, and since then several of my friends have gotten married and began to have kids. Now I have gone to all their bridal showers and weddings.

In return, several did not come to my shower in New Jersey! Was talking to one person today who has not RSVP (but told me 2 months ago she would be at my wedding) that now she may not come. Why?? Because her stepson wants to go to a Scout Party and there is no one to take him. Come on!!!

I only get married once and so far she didnt even make it to my bridal shower. Actually she never even sent a gift for my bridal shower either!!!! So annoyed...

I not only went to both her shower and wedding, but I had to pay for a hotel both times I went. I had to drive 5 hours to get there!!!!

Just not very fair! I guess you really do find out who your friends are when you have a wedding.

I don't blame you for being p***d! A lot of friends have been married before me and it's amazing to see how you treated them vs. how they treat you when it's your turn.

I am sorry your friends are being that way. Your friends are being very self centered. I hope that they realize what a good friend you have been to them and decide to come to your wedding.

Did your FH's brothers ever rsvp at all?

No, FI's brothers haven't RSVPed. And I dont expected them to.

I would be mad too. Our friends didnt come because they had to take their stepdaughter to a concert Someone else could have taken her. The one of them was going to come, but they both didnt come

i had friends fly up from Atlanta come up to ours...and dozens of dad's family members from CT drove to LI (after not going to LI for 10+ years b/c of the traffic)


and I am flying in from CA to go to shelzyp's...

It just hurts!! Especially because most of my friends didnt come to my shower for whatever reason, and never even acknowledged that I had one.

Just sad!! This is one of the reason why I cant wait for this to be over, because I just get upset at this kind of stuff...

You have every right to be p.o'ed. This summer alone, we went to one wedding in NC, one in PA, and FI was in a wedding in CA. It was over $500 just to FLY out there! I did not go...no money! If any of these guys turned around and said they couldn't be in our wedding, we would be very upset. Just don't let it get to you and know that maybe she's not that great of a friend. You'll have a great wedding regardless!!

I felt the same way when some of my closest friends didn't come to my shower this past weekend...I've always made an effort to go to their showers and weddings or sent a gift if I couldn't go. I saw one of my friends the day after my shower and she asked me what I did this weekend- I think she felt really stupid when I said, oh my shower was yesterday
