Disappointing day house hunting....

Disappointing day house hunting....

So we are continuing our quest for a house for $400,000....today we went to two open houses.

Bethpage - I had heard so many good things about the neighborhood, I kind of had my heart set on finding something there. When we get there, the house is a little run down, which is to be expected at this price - BUT it is on a major road AND next door to a tremendous power line!!! I'm afraid if we lived there our kids would glow in the dark!

Westbury - Well this house was in the 'prestigeous salsbery' area - and the house was cute, but there was something about the block that seemed a little off, the houses surrounding the house were not in the best condition - I think we may continue our search in this area because I'm not sure we gave it a fair chance.

I think we are expanding our search to more of the south shore....thanks for listening - house hunting can be so frustrating!

dont get frustrated you will find something. i was feeling the same way and i found one and will be closing anyday now. remember its better to be the smallest house on a great block then the biggest house on a terrible block. because you could always fix your house up.

We're in the same boat!!!! I think I've discovered that for $400K I'm NOT going to find a house that I'm happy with. I mean, that's an awful lot of money to think, 'Well, I could knock down a wall, the kitchen can up redone in a few years...'

I like Bethpage too. Don't know much about Westbury. I did see a house in S. Bellmore today that was really cute! It's so small, but in a great neighborhood.
Good luck!

I saw a lot of nice houses in Levittown for less than 400K (I know Bethpage is right nest door)

Don't give up, new stuff is always going on the market
