So I really want to get a brazilian wax. But I have never gotten my lady area waxed before, not even a bikini. So few questions:

1) how do you prepare for this?
2) pain level??? - i am a wimp when it comes to pain
3) recommendations?? i don't care about cost as long as the person is awesome and really nice...i need to be comfortable.

thanks girls!

if price isnt an issue, i would recommend a spa. its just more comfortable and better..especially for your first time.

you can take a drink or some tylenol before. but the pain really doesnt last that long.

if you have more questions you can fm me

Take two advil before you go to cut down on the pain. If you have sensitive skin, be careful, you can get a reaction to it...Just like any other waxing, some of your skin may come off with it so if you are very sensitive please be careful!! They had a thread about this on 09 brides yesterday night, I think alot of girls reccomened Bliss spa, in the city...I think the one on 49th st....

I agree definatly go to a spa!!

pain on a scale of 1-10... I'd say 8, but it is over very quickly.... you might be sore the next day or 2. Make sure to do it atleast 2 days before going on your HM, bc salt water will burn EEEK! and you might have some redness.. it subsides in a few days though.

Take a tylenol like little j said and you will be fine

I did full legs and brazilian at once, and honestly i thought the back of the calf was worse than the girly area! HTH.... FM me with any more questions

OK so I'm a BIG baby when it comes to pain but if I could get it done on a monthly basis, I'm sure you could try it Don't get me wrong it will sting for like 2 seconds. I would suggest you go the The Red Door Spa, they use this 'ouchless' wax. I've been waxed before with the strips of paper that they pull off and but this wax they use, it goes on and in seconds it hardens and they just peel it off. Its much less pain than the pulling the strip of paper off

Re: Disclaimer: This might be a 'TMI' topic

first time i went to oasis not bliss. the girl was great and she let me read a gossip magazine the whole time, which definately helped to distract me.

the skin spa in the city is really good too and really clean (all white type of thing)

one tip - esp for your first time if you have sensitive skin - afterwards you can put on some neosporin. it sounds kinda strange, but it helps with the irritation if you have sensitive skin.

Its honestly not that bad... there was only one area where I've been like OMG that hurt! But its soo worth it!
I cant really recommend anyone... the lady I go to moved away and shes only in NY on special occasions.
She told me to never go right before your period because thats when you are more sensitive to pain.

once you get it!!! you will want to get it again!...It is very painful at the beginning but the lady i went to made me feel so comfortable!! just get ready for the pain! but let me tell you it lasts like a month before you need a new one totally recommendable. Try to find legit areas around you!!! I have been going to this place around my house! but I am looking to find another place since the lady that used to do it is no longer there

christine, i am happy you asked this question. i have wanted to go for a long time but i hate pain.

my biggest concern is, how long does it last?? i know that everyones hair grows at different speeds but on average.

also do you shave before you go or does it need to grow in first?

I know you probably never would do this but promise me you will never get one of the home waxing kits. It hurt so bad that my lips turned blue from crying so hard. Yes it was stupid but it was on sale and I figured why not. Never again lol.

i think i heard you have to grow it a little b4 going....my thing is, if i have to go every month, then its too much...like $145 a month is a lot.

Ha Ha Ha. This thread totally reminds me of something my grandma said a few years ago.

I forget what we were talking about exactly and she said 'what is it with women nowadays have no hair on their vaginas. That's just not sanitary'

This coming from an 80 year old woman!!! I love my grandma!
