I am looking to get a new dishwasher and have it installed and on the Sears website I was quoted $119.99 plus $45 for delivery - all for a $250 machine! Does that seem right?? Seems mighty high to me. We already have a broken dishwasher so all they have to do is replace with a new one.
my thought is that its probably union work? and if it is calculated at 2 hours labor @ $58/hour or so
would DH be willing to try to do it himself? i know that my dad did for our dishwasher (with a lot of cursing of course...but that came with the territory dealing with my father ;) )
you could probably pick up a DIY book at the library...you know those time Life books...
if the water system is already installed...I can't see too much work...

We got ours at HOme Depot, and there was a rebate for the installation cost. Not sure how long they are running that promotion.

Great thanks - well look at HD. I was thinking of trying to do it ourselves. I'm pretty handy and DH can help. We'll go to the stores tomorrow and see what we can negotiate in person.

installing a dishwasher is relativly easy...its just hooking up the hoses (tight) so they dont leak and hooking up the electric. My husband did it with the help of my Grandfather!!

we installed ours...since you are replacing an old one, its really not that difficult - it can just be time consuming....
