Disinvite a guest?

Disinvite a guest?

I know this is considered bad etiquette but I fear I have no choice. I think I have to disinvite a wedding guest that already RSVP'd yes. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to do this?

I have a semi distant family member who made a total  mess of my shower. it was 2pm and she was knocking back vodka with her brunch and proceeded to be out of control and gave a (sexually themed) inappropriate toast among other events. She has since told  my mother she was not drunk and she has nothing to apologize for. I'm so afraid of what she will do at my wedding after seeing her behavior at the shower. HELP.

Oh goodness! I odn't blame you for wnating to disinvite her. What does your other say/think? If disinviting her would cause too many family problems I would either have a family member keep an eye on her and if she starts to get a little crazy have her escorted out, you can also have your MD on hand to watch/assist. I would also advise your aunt that this will happen ahead if time.

Good luck.

Since this person is 'semi-distant,' ask the family member you think is closest with this person for his or her advice, and, if possible for them to act as a go-between to bring up your concerns with her. If they warn her that unless she can act appropriately, she should volunteer to decline the invitation. If that doesn't work, then you should speak with her directly and tell her your fears, and then if you get into a fight, LOL, then go ahead and tell her she's not invited and not welcome!

Tough situation! Best of luck!

This is a tough one. I had a similar situation happen over and over with the same person so therefore she is not invited to my wedding. I say its your day and you should not have to walk on eggshells for anyone. To make it worse my family member was also denying the drunk factor so it pissed me off more cause everyone there knew she was. Who needs added stress.....just my opinion.

If you have a few pictures of her, blow them up and give them to the bartenders with a sign saying 'DO NOT SERVE.'

Seriously what I want to do to one of my family members. I'm sorry.. did you want that jack and coke or was that just a coke? oops..

I would definitely uninvite especially since you are not close to them. You could also tell the bartenders to not serve her alcohol.

Have your mom send the dis-invitation. Tell her were appalled and embarrassed by hr behavior, and you will not have her doing the same thing at your wedding. It would be one thing if she apologized, but the fact that she doesn't think she did anything wrong shows it's very likely there will be a repeat.

THIS if you must keep her on the guest list. I would also let her know she will not be able to drink since she has nothing to apologize for.

If it was me I would gladly just tell her that if she has nothing to apologize for, then she is showing her poor behavior will continue and you do not want this on your day. So she can not come, and YOU have nothing to apologize for dis-inviting you. That really makes me mad that she does not want to apologize,
